Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 9 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Vronsky! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Everth Cabaret! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vronsky lands with a right hand. Cabaret darts in trying to clinch letting Vronsky counter with a right hand. A big left from Vronsky misses. Cabaret gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Cabaret taking a breather. Vronsky is trying to break the clinch but Cabaret has him pressed against the ropes. Vronsky tries to break free but Cabaret pushes him back against the ropes. Vronsky turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Vronsky creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Cabaret sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Cabaret parries the strikes from Vronsky easily there. Vronsky is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Cabaret to escape.
Cabaret tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Vronsky wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Cabaret prevents Vronsky from moving into mount. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Vronsky in side control, throwing shots but Cabaret defends. Vronsky lands an elbow. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Vronsky tries to advance to mount but Cabaret denies him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cabaret is pushing Vronsky's head away, looking to escape. Vronsky manages to hold on to the position though. Cabaret tries to improve position but can't. Cabaret sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Vronsky is pressing down on Cabaret's thigh, looking to free his foot. Cabaret is holding on for now. Cabaret is staying active underneath Vronsky, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Cabaret is looking to improve his position.
Vronsky is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Cabaret! Vronsky lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Cabaret hang on? Cabaret is desperately trying to improve his position but Vronsky has a good base and remains in mount. Vronsky lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
It looks like Everth Cabaret has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cabaret is bucking up trying to escape but Vronsky cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
That has opened up Everth Cabaret's cut even more. Vronsky fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The cut above Everth Cabaret's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vronsky scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Cabaret?
Everth Cabaret's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Everth Cabaret's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Michael Vronsky! Michael Vronsky retains his middleweight title! A very excited looking Michael Vronsky made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
