Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joey Rodinerio Bravo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bravo comes to the ring accompanied by Damian Marley - Confrontation. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joey Rodinerio Bravo !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mauricio Rua!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Bravo with that takedown attempt.
Rua scoring well with a low kick there.

Rua clinches up with Bravo and pushes him back against the ropes.
Bravo blocking some punches.
Rua has a couple of punches blocked by Bravo .

Bravo gets control of Rua's arms and successfully pulls guard. Bravo will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Rua scoring with some ground and pound.
Rua must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Rua looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Bravo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Rua wants to control from the top but Bravo keeps moving.

Bravo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rua defends well.

Rua content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Bravo keeping moving, preventing Rua from controlling successfully.
Rua cracks Bravo with a solid left hand.
Rua wants to control from the top but Bravo keeps moving.

Bravo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rua defends it easily.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bravo wants to sweep but no luck.
Rua throwing strikes from guard but Bravo blocks nicely.

Bravo looking for a guillotine here but Rua defends easily.
Rua stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bravo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rua loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Bravo keeping moving, preventing Rua from controlling successfully.
Rua postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Rua landing some decent shots from guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Bravo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Rua trying to control but Bravo is working from the bottom.
Bravo can't keep his opponent in guard - Rua advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rua thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bravo 's head.
Rua thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mauricio Rua dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Bravo swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Bravo will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Bravo avoids the body shot from Rua.
Bravo closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Nice defenses there by Bravo .
Rua misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rua throws a series of punches but Bravo moves out of range.
Rua dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Bravo . That did some damage!
Bravo wants to clinch up but Rua keeps it at a distance.
A punch combination from Rua misses.
Bravo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rua as he avoids it easily.
Rua stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rua wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joey Rodinerio Bravo . That's going to take a lot out of him.

Rua closes the distance and clinches.

Rua escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bravo tries to clinch but Rua moves out of range.
Bravo takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rua drops Bravo with a nice combination! Rua dives into Bravo 's guard, looking to finish!


Bravo is rocked!


It looks like Joey Rodinerio Bravo has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bravo wants to control the position but Rua says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Rua is looking to take a break and control but Bravo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Rua is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Oh Bravo is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rua lands with a punch from half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Rua lands a nice short elbow.
Rua passes to full mount!
Bravo is working to get back to half guard.
Rua loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Bravo scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Rua land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Rua stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mauricio Rua!
During a confident post fight interview, Mauricio Rua thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
