Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Roberts! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Christian Jacobs! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Columbo Gatti and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jacobs takes the fight into the clinch. Roberts blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Jacobs manages to pull guard.
Jacobs looking for a sweep. Not yet Jacobs, not yet. Roberts content to stall in guard here. Roberts would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Roberts wants to stand and escape but instead Jacobs has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jacobs working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Jacobs trying to control the position from guard on top but Roberts is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Roberts wants to sweep here but Jacobs controlling him for the moment. Jacobs is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Roberts is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Roberts has escaped and now he's on top! Roberts wants to stand but Jacobs is controlling his posture from full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jacobs manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Roberts avoids a series of strikes thrown by Jacobs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jacobs looking to control but Roberts is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Jacobs lands a nice shot to the head. Roberts in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Jacobs working Roberts over with strikes here. Jacobs cracks Roberts with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Jacobs thowing shots but they're missing. Roberts wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Jacobs.
Jacobs throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Roberts because Jacobs loaded up on that one.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Jacobs raining down hammerfists from mount. Jacobs throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Jacobs lands a heavy elbow. Jacobs unloads with some shots from mount but Roberts bucks and avoids them well.
Jacobs trying to control but he's not successful this time. Roberts wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Jacobs.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jacobs looking to secure an arm triangle but Roberts defends it well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Christian Jacobs dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Left hook, right uppercut from Jacobs. Christian Jacobs is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Roberts throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jacobs sees it coming and avoids it easily. Jacobs is looking to chop away at Roberts's legs. Jacobs fails with a takedown attempt. Jacobs takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Roberts misses with a body shot.
Jacobs cracks Roberts with a good jab. Jacobs takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Roberts leaves Jacobs with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Roberts works the jab nicely. Jacobs throws a series of punches but Roberts avoids them all with ease. Roberts lands a right hook to the body.
Roberts clobbers Jacobs with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Jacobs throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Roberts's waist but Roberts gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jacobs off to one side. Jim Roberts has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Christian Jacobs. Jacobs chopping away at his opponent's legs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jacobs throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Jacobs misses with a jab to the body
and Roberts connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jacobs misses with a double jab
and Roberts counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Roberts keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jacobs moves in looking to clinch but Roberts pushes him off. Jacobs with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Roberts to score with a decent uppercut. Jacobs misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Roberts lands the left hand.
Jacobs is rocked! Jacobs throws out a token jab with nothing on it. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jacobs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jacobs shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Jacobs blocks a jab. Jacobs shoots in for a takedown but Roberts shows good takedown defense. A slow jab from Roberts misses its intended target. Jacobs shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Roberts as he avoids it easily. Jacobs tries for a takedown but Roberts sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Jacobs needs to keep his hands up - Roberts had a free shot at his head there. Roberts defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jacobs. Roberts scores with a nice right hand.
Jacobs is still on wobbly legs! Can Roberts finish him? Jacobs takes a shot right to the bread basket. Jacobs is breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jacobs thows a body shot but no joy. Roberts circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Jacobs to the canvas! Jacobs doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Roberts keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jim Roberts! Jim Roberts bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
