The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mason scores with a takedown into Temple Broadbent's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Mason is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Temple Broadbent looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Mason sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Temple Broadbent's guard.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Temple Broadbent enables Mason to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Temple Broadbent manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Mason has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Temple Broadbent uses from the top position.

Temple Broadbent is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Temple Broadbent is trying to drag Mason to the mat but Mason just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Mason's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Temple Broadbent is defended easily by Mason.

Mason throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Temple Broadbent was covering up waiting for the punch and Mason finishes the takedown easily into guard.
