Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Valderama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ricardo Valderama! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Frank Jones! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Valderama tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Jones counters with an outside leg kick.
Valderama tries to clinch but Jones moves out of range. Jones turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. The fight moves into the clinch position. Jones jumps into guard, dragging Valderama to the mat.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Jones keeping full guard, as Valderama tries to pass. Jones manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Valderama is looking to improve his position but Jones isn't that keen on the idea.
That's one minute gone in the round. Valderama wants to try and get back to his feet. Jones working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Valderama is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Jones throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Valderama is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Valderama swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. Jones has control of Valderama's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Valderama regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Valderama is trying desperately to improve position. Jones throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Jones is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Valderama to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Valderama shrugs it off. Jones tries to control but Valderama wriggling away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones looking for a guillotine from mount but Valderama is having none of it. Valderama is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Valderama can't escape the position.
Jones wants to control the pace but Valderama is squirming around nicely. Valderama tries to control Jones's body but Jones pushes him off. Valderama squirms to his side and now Jones has his back! Valderama trying to control the hands but Jones won't let him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Valderama tries to escape the position.
Valderama is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Valderama tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Valderama is squirming around, avoiding Jones's attempts to control the action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frank Jones dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Sloppy strikes from Valderama. Those never looked like landing. Valderama throws a head kick that misses and Jones counters with a thumping low kick. Ricardo Valderama seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Left hook, right uppercut from Valderama.
It looks like Frank Jones has been cut. Valderama is looking to clinch. Valderama sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Jones tries to keep at a distance but Valderama has taken the fight into the clinch. Jones tries to pull guard but Valderama won't allow it.
Valderama tries to throw a body punch but Jones avoids it by throwing Valderama back against the cage. Valderama is trying to break the clinch but Jones is controlling him. Jones breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Valderama tries to clinch and Jones counters with an inside leg kick. Jones moves out of range of the strikes. Valderama tries to clinch and Jones counters with a solid body kick. Valderama lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jones circles away quickly and effectively. Jones cracks the inside of Valderama's front leg. Valderama scores with a sloppy right hand. Jones should have avoided that one. Valderama lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Valderama takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Jones moves in looking to clinch but Valderama pushes him off.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones slips under a jab from Valderama. Jones looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Valderama darts in trying to clinch and Jones counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Valderama is lucky that one didn't land flush.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Valderama attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Ricardo Valderama is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Valderama thuds a left hand into Jones's body. Some wild striking there from Valderama.
Valderama throws a leg kick but Jones sees it coming and moves out of range. Valderama wants to clinch up but Jones keeps it at a distance. Valderama rushes Jones and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Valderama has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Jones after a bit of a struggle.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A head punch blocked on the inside by Jones. Jones's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Valderama jabs at Jones's body. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Valderama. Jones circles away from the clinch attempt and Jones counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Valderama moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jones scoring well with a low kick there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Valderama tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Ricardo Valderama is winning the standup battle so far. Valderama fails in his attempt to clinch. Valderama swings for the body but Jones moves out of range.
A head kick from Jones lands but Valderama takes it in his stride. A low kick from Valderama misses and Jones counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Valderama wants to clinch. Jones lands a head kick. Valderama smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
That's one minute gone in the round. Valderama throws a leg kick and Jones counters with a thumping low kick. Valderama darts in trying to clinch and Jones counters with a good low kick that Valderama was not able to check. Valderama instigates a clinch. Jones gets underhooks to prevent Valderama's takedown attempt.
Jones unloads a knee to the mid-section. Valderama lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Jones is looking to break free of the clinch but Valderama has double underhooks.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Valderama tries to clinch up but Jones circles away and keeps his distance. Good exchange - Valderama coming out on top. Jones lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Valderama tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Valderama tries to clinch but Jones moves away and Jones counters with a good, hard body kick but Valderama shrugs it off. Valderama misses the shot to the body. Valderama misses with a two punch combination.
Ricardo Valderama is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Valderama tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jones swats him away and circles back towards the center. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Valderama moves in looking to clinch but Jones pushes him off. Valderama fails with an attempt to clinch.
A nice leg kick lands there from Jones. Valderama misses with a combination

Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Valderama on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Jones. Jones obviously looking to wear him down.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Valderama is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Jones.
Valderama dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Jones circles away from the clinch attempt and Jones counters with a slapping leg kick. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Valderama fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jones manages to avoid it. Valderama fails with an attempt to clinch.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ricardo Valderama. I think Valderama has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
