PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Roger Dillon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz has chosen National Anthem as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Dillon.
Dillon thuds his right hand into Diaz's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Dillon swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Diaz counters with a single leg into guard. Dillon didn't expect that.
Diaz forces his way into half guard.
Dillon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Diaz on the ground.
Diaz stalling.
Diaz prevents Dillon from standing back up.
Dillon scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Diaz manages to mount him!

Dillon on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Dillon tries to get out of the position.

Diaz won't let Dillon get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Diaz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Dillon is looking to escape.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Diaz trying to control but Dillon is having none of it.
Dillon is trying to stand.
Diaz lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Diaz wants to control the pace but Dillon is squirming around nicely.

Diaz cracks Dillon with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Dillon is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Diaz throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Dillon is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Diaz is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Diaz looking to control but Dillon is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's time! Dillon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Dillon takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Dillon throws a left and a right that both miss
and Diaz counters with a slapping leg kick.
Dillon misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Diaz dodges the punch combination from Dillon.
Nice sprawl there from Dillon as Diaz shoots in.
Diaz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dillon throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Diaz counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Diaz.
Diaz prevents Dillon from getting back to his feet.
Diaz looking to sit in guard and control but Dillon gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Diaz manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Dillon looks to land a combination. Diaz sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

and Diaz decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Dillon's guard.

Diaz trying to control but Dillon is working from the bottom.
Dillon wants to stand up but Diaz is controlling him.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dillon is looking to stand up but Diaz isn't so interested in that idea.

Diaz stands up and waves to Dillon to follow him.
Diaz is breathing heavily.
Dillon rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Diaz moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A left and a right from Dillon both land. Nice combination.
Mike Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Dillon misses with a double jab

and Diaz holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Diaz pulls guard effortlessly.
Dillon is looking to stand up but Diaz won't let him.
Diaz trying to keep a closed guard but Dillon is proving a slippery customer.

Dillon stands up from guard. Let's bang!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Diaz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Diaz decides to stand up, so the ref orders Dillon to his feet.
Diaz fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

and Diaz counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Dillon is lucky that one didn't land flush.

and Dillon counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Dillon lands with a hook. Diaz tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Dillon tries to bum rush Diaz with a series of wild strikes but Diaz uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Roger Dillon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Roger Dillon has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Diaz is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Dillon is trying to escape and Diaz transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Dillon is forced to tap! Nice work there by Diaz! Very nice indeed!
