Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mathew Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Dejardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Danny Dejardo is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mathew Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Danny Dejardo!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dejardo throws a nice looking combination but Smith bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Dejardo throws a one two combo.
Smith closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Dejardo clobbers Smith with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Dejardo!
Dejardo stuffs the takedown attempt from Smith. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.
Dejardo looks to land a combination but Smith avoids it well.
Dejardo misses with a two punch combination.
Mathew Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dejardo throws a right and a left that Smith avoids nicely.
Dejardo throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Smith.

Smith fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dejardo sprawls well initially but Smith persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mathew Smith.
Smith shoots for a double leg takedown but Dejardo sprawls well. He's pushed Smith's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Smith throws a nice looking combination but Dejardo bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Dejardo scores with a one two! Smith had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Dejardo has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Smith has passed into side control.

Smith lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Dejardo down.

Dejardo is trying to control Smith's posture but Smith avoids it.
Smith tries to score with some ground and pound. Dejardo controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Smith wants to stand but Dejardo has his arm trapped.
Dejardo is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Smith's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Smith is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dejardo is just riding it out for now. Smith eventually gives up the hold.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Smith tries a body shot but Dejardo blocks it.
Smith is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Dejardo gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Smith wants to break the clinch but can't.

Smith tries to score a body lock takedown but Dejardo shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Dejardo throws a right and a left that both miss.
The fight stays on the outside here - Smith looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Danny Dejardo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Smith misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Dejardo misses with a few strikes there.
Dejardo misses with a double jab.
Dejardo lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Dejardo.
Smith shoots in looking for a takedown. Dejardo tries to sprawl out of it but Smith keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dejardo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Smith shoots for a double leg takedown but Dejardo sprawls well. He's pushed Smith's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mathew Smith will probably get the nod.

Dejardo avoids a kick to the body.
Dejardo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smith moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Dejardo stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dejardo wants it to stay on the feet.
Dejardo throws a shot to the body.
Smith changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dejardo tries to avoid it but Smith manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dejardo to the ground. Dejardo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Smith shoots in looking for a takedown but Dejardo manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Smith's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Smith will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Smith is defended easily by Dejardo.

Smith fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Dejardo to the ground. Smith is now in Dejardo's guard.
Dejardo manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Dejardo wants to control the pace but Smith is squirming around nicely.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Smith tries to hold on but Dejardo postures up.
Danny Dejardo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mathew Smith is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

I would just about give that final round to Danny Dejardo.
I think Smith has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
