Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wanderlei Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Carroll (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva avoids the head kick by Carroll.
Carroll tries to score a power double leg takedown but Silva sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Carroll somewhat.
Silva tries to clinch up.
Carroll circles away from the clinch attempt
and Carroll counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Silva is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Silva rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Carroll moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Carroll shoots for a takedown but Silva saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Silva takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

It looks like Wanderlei Silva has been cut.

Silva tries to clinch but Carroll moves out of range.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Carroll closes the distance and clinches.
Carroll should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Carroll has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Silva after a bit of a struggle.
Wanderlei Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Carroll.

Carroll jumps guard and drags Silva to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Carroll wants to stand and escape but Silva is having none of it.
Silva slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Silva knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carroll on the ground.

Wanderlei Silva has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Carroll drives through and clinches with Silva against the cage.
Silva gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

It looks like Matt Carroll has been cut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Carroll is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Silva to keep the fight standing.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Silva just misses with a elbow thrown towards Carroll's brow.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Silva.
Carroll using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Silva has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

That has opened up Matt Carroll's cut even more.
Silva is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Carroll is defending well for now.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
