PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Savage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Junior Wolfe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Savage comes to the cage accompanied by Bon Jovi - It's my life. Wolfe is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Ramones - Blitzkreig Bop!. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jackson Savage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Junior Wolfe!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Savage dives in and grabs Wolfe's left leg, looking for a takedown. Wolfe pushes down on Savage's head and hops out.
Savage blocks the body kick.
Savage tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Wolfe throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Wolfe stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Savage.
Wolfe throws a leg kick but Savage sees it coming and moves out of range.
Savage shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Wolfe counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Nice sprawl there from Wolfe as Savage shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jackson Savage. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wolfe throws a jab but it's blocked by Savage.
Good leg kick by Wolfe there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Wolfe is looking to slow Savage down with leg kicks.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Wolfe looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Savage gets full guard.
Wolfe trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wolfe trying to control the position from guard on top but Savage is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wolfe is fighting to break Savage's control of his arms but Savage is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Savage bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Wolfe's guard.
Wolfe wants to sweep but no luck.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Savage accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Wolfe holds on and takes a little breather.

Wolfe is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Savage defends well.
Savage forces his way into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Savage looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Wolfe looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Savage seems to be looking for submissions.
Savage prevents Wolfe from improving his position.

Savage is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Wolfe wants to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Savage seems to be looking for submissions.

Savage is working for a submission of some sort.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Savage prevents Wolfe from improving his position.

Savage is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Wolfe keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Savage looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wolfe is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Savage wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wolfe keeps working.

Savage is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Wolfe has managed to free his arm - good work.

Savage is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Wolfe defends it well.
Wolfe manages to get to full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Savage postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Junior Wolfe will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Wolfe throws a hook but Savage avoids it easily.
Savage fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Savage throws a head kick but Wolfe moves out of range.
Wolfe throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Savage sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Savage manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Wolfe on his heels. He'll look to pass Wolfe's guard now, I'm sure.
Wolfe wants to sweep but no luck.
Savage passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Wolfe tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Savage wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Savage has hold of Wolfe's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Wolfe tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Savage cranks the arm and Wolfe screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Wolfe, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Jackson Savage!
A determined Jackson Savage didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
