Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yori Boyka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aldo has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Yori Boyka! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Aldo! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Thiago Cunha and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aldo wants to clinch. Aldo looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Boyka sizes up Aldo with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Boyka looks to land a combination. Aldo sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Boyka circles away from the clinch attempt.
A left and a right from Boyka both land. Nice combination. Boyka lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Boyka. Boyka moves in looking to clinch but Aldo pushes him off. Boyka gets a clinch. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Boyka is trying to break the clinch but Aldo has him pressed against the cage. Boyka jumps guard and drags Aldo to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Boyka has control of Aldo's left arm, preventing Aldo from doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boyka looking to hit a scissor sweep but Aldo is one step ahead there. Boyka pulls Aldo in close to his closed guard and prevents Aldo from doing any damage or advancing position.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Yori Boyka wasn't doing enough on the ground. Boyka goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Boyka lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Aldo circles away quickly and effectively. Boyka gets a clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aldo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Boyka just stands there and leans against the cage. Boyka stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
A frustrated look appears on Boyka's face as he tries to break the clinch. Boyka looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Boyka tries to pull guard but Aldo holds him up against the cage and eventually Boyka drops back down to his feet.

Boyka controls Aldo momentarily but Aldo frees himself. Boyka is looking for a triangle but Aldo pushes his legs off easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Boyka seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Yori Boyka wasn't doing enough on the ground. Boyka tries to close the distance and clinch up but Aldo swats him away and circles back towards the center.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Boyka tries to clinch up but Aldo circles away and keeps his distance. Boyka fails miserably with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yori Boyka. That's going to take a lot out of him. Boyka throws a head kick that misses. Boyka throws a half hearted mid kick. Boyka shoots in looking for a takedown. Aldo tries to sprawl out of it but Boyka keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Aldo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Boyka tries to score a power double leg takedown but Aldo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Boyka somewhat. Aldo is looking to clinch. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Boyka feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Yori Boyka dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
No joy there for Boyka, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Yori Boyka is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Boyka connects with a solid leg kick. Boyka throws a leg kick and Aldo counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Boyka fails with an attempt to clinch.
Boyka throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Boyka tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Aldo paws at him with a jab and circles away. Boyka scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Boyka wants to control for a moment but Aldo uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Boyka prevents Aldo from improving his position. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Boyka lands a nice short elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boyka keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Aldo has hold of Boyka's hands but Boyka slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Aldo is looking to improve his position.
Boyka is thwarting Aldo's attempts to control the position. Aldo flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Boyka perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Boyka is trying to control the action in half guard but Aldo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Aldo looks like he's trying to stand up.
Boyka is looking to stall here but Aldo recovers full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aldo looking for a sweep. Not yet Aldo, not yet. Boyka drops back, looking for a kneebar! Aldo looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Aldo looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Aldo! Boyka wants to control but Aldo postures up. Aldo moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Aldo tries to stand but Boyka is controlling his head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Boyka gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Aldo trying to advance position but Boyka counters by regaining guard. Boyka tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Boyka is working hard here to advance position. Aldo gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Boyka. Aldo shoots in but no luck this time. Boyka shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Aldo defends it nicely. Boyka throws a leg kick but Aldo sees it coming and checks it nicely. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Aldo closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Boyka did well to prevent Aldo getting side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Boyka wants to get back to full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Yori Boyka will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Boyka takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Sloppy strikes from Boyka. Those never looked like landing. Boyka cracks Aldo with a right hand to the side of the head. Boyka looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Boyka misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Boyka scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Boyka is looking to clinch. The fight stays on the outside here - Boyka looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Boyka is looking to clinch. Yori Boyka is winning the standup battle so far. Aldo displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Boyka. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Aldo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Boyka jabbing away but nothing is landing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boyka fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Aldo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Boyka's guard. Aldo passes easily into side control. Nice work. Boyka looking for a sweep but Aldo has passed into full mount! Oh no! Boyka has given up his back here.
Aldo gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aldo is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Boyka knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Boyka for a finish. Boyka has hold of Aldo's arm. He needs to escape this position sooner or later but for now he's happy enough to control the position and prevent the submission attempts. Aldo has his arm under Boyka's chin here. Game over son! Aldo squeezes tightly and Boyka is forced to tap out!
