PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Al Wuzz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Dekker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wuzz comes into the arena with Lützenkirchen - Cairo on Acid blaring out of the sound system. Dekker has chosen Freak on a leash as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Al Wuzz!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Bobby Dekker!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Atkins and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dekker has closed the distance and engaged Wuzz in a clinch.
Wuzz letting Dekker take a breather here.
Dekker unloads a knee to the mid-section. Wuzz lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Dekker stalling against the cage.
Dekker tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Dekker breaks the clinch.
Wuzz moves in looking to clinch but Dekker pushes him off.
Wuzz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Wuzz shoots in for a takedown but Dekker shows good takedown defense.
Wuzz tries to clinch up but Dekker circles away and keeps his distance.
Wuzz looks for a takedown but Dekker sprawls well.
Wuzz is breathing heavily.
Dekker misses with a two punch combination.
Dekker is looking to clinch.

Dekker clinches but Wuzz breaks the clinch

and Wuzz counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Wuzz.

Dekker uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Dekker tries to clinch but Wuzz is having none of it.
Wuzz finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Wuzz circles away from the clinch attempt.

Dekker moves into the clinch.

Dekker escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Dekker throws a sloppy head kick and Wuzz moves out of range easily.
Dekker closes the distance but Wuzz moves to the side

and Wuzz moves into the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dekker content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Dekker breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Dekker tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wuzz swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Dekker closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Dekker stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Wuzz tries to clinch up but Dekker circles away and keeps his distance.

and Wuzz counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Dekker's guard now.
Dekker wants to stand up but Wuzz is controlling him.

Wuzz drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wuzz jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Wuzz wants to pass the guard but Dekker is keeping the position.
Dekker is looking to stand up but Wuzz isn't so interested in that idea.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Wuzz tries to clinch but Dekker is having none of it.
Dekker closes the distance looking to clinch

and Wuzz counters with a single leg into guard. Dekker didn't expect that.
Wuzz trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Dekker wants to get back to his feet but Wuzz is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Wuzz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Wuzz stops Dekker from standing up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Wuzz wants to stand but Dekker is controlling his posture from full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Dekker circles away from the clinch attempt
and Dekker counters with a good low kick that Wuzz was not able to check.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Al Wuzz will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Dekker throwing hammer fists to the chest of Wuzz. What's that going to do exactly?

Wuzz is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Dekker is surviving well by controlling Wuzz's body position as best he can.
Dekker wants to try and get back to his feet.

Dekker looks for the body kick but Wuzz saw that one coming.
Dekker goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Wuzz fails with the takedown

and Dekker counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Dekker misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Wuzz.

Wuzz on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Wuzz has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Dekker avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Al Wuzz. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dekker's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Wuzz is trying to trip Dekker. He has hold of a leg but Dekker is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Wuzz persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Dekker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dekker can do anything to dispel that myth.
Dekker with a couple of shots from the bottom there - nothing Wuzz can't handle though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Wuzz closes the distance and clinches.

Dekker using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Wuzz has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Dekker wants to clinch but Wuzz slips to the side

and Wuzz holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Dekker is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Wuzz changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Dekker fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Wuzz avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Wuzz fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Wuzz rushes Dekker and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Dekker tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
With the fighters up against the cage, Dekker throws an elbow but misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Al Wuzz dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Wuzz decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Dekker, up you get!
Dekker wants to clinch

so Wuzz counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Wuzz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dekker swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Al Wuzz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Dekker is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Wuzz is controlling him.
Wuzz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Wuzz postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Dekker is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Wuzz, into his guard.

Wuzz is working an open guard so Dekker takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Dekker takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Wuzz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Dekker counters by moving into the clinch.
A left hand lands to the body for Wuzz.
Dekker tries to land knees in the clinch but Wuzz avoids the damage to the body.

Dekker is pressed up against the cage. Wuzz has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Dekker down to the mat. Dekker avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Dekker is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Wuzz in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Dekker is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
