Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Phan Nam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dave Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nam tries to close the distance and clinch but Jackson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Jackson gets a double leg takedown into Nam's guard.

Nam throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Nam is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Nam working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Jackson.
Jackson tries to free his leg and advance position but Nam is retaining full guard.

Nam working for a triangle but Jackson defends it easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jackson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Jackson trying to control but Nam is working from the bottom.

Nam is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Nam really is a fat lump.

Jackson tries to free his leg and advance position but Nam is retaining full guard.
Jackson postures up and lands a big shot to Nam's brow.
Jackson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jackson trying to stand up but can't free himself from Nam's guard.

Jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nam. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jackson scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nam swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jackson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Nam manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jackson has Nam in his guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jackson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jackson looks gassed!
Nam controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Nam trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jackson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nam defends it easily.
Nam might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Jackson is looking for a triangle but Nam pushes his legs off easily.

Nam showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Jackson controls Nam momentarily but Nam frees himself.
Nam forces his way into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jackson is looking to escape.
Nam thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Nam in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Jackson tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Nam!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Phan Nam!
A very excited looking Phan Nam rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
