Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Oscar Corona (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Vera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vera has chosen Badass as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Oscar Corona!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Vera!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vera is looking to clinch.
Corona stalks Vera and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Vera's face. Vera staggers backwards, shaken.
Corona shoots in looking for a takedown but Vera manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Corona's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Vera bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Corona's head backwards.
Corona misses with the combination.
Corona shoots in for a double leg but Vera sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Vera cracks Corona with an open hand slap.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Vera scores with a decent looking hook.
Vera throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Corona.
Vera lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Vera lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Corona at a distance.

Vera dives in and scores a takedown into Corona's guard.
Vera is stalling in the full guard.
Corona really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Corona looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Vera passes into side control.
Corona is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Corona explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Corona is breathing heavily.
Vera shoots in but no luck this time.
Vera lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Corona is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Vera shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Corona defends it nicely.
Vera tests Corona's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Vera scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Vera taking a break here but Corona is having none of it and regains half guard.
Vera thows a huge punch but Corona dodges it nicely.
Vera slips a nice elbow through Corona's hands, connecting with Corona's forehead.
Vera looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Corona is defending against the submission attempts here by Vera.

Vera not doing much here.

Vera is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Vera looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Corona is trying to control but can't.

Vera is trying to work for a kimura but Corona is defending well.

Vera is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Corona sees it coming and defends easily.
Corona wants to get back to his feet.

Corona is staying active underneath Vera, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Corona tries to roll over but Vera keeps him under control.
Vera is taking a breather. Corona says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Vera trying to mount his opponent but Corona defends it.
Vera is trying to control the action in half guard but Corona is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Frank Vera hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Vera moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nice cross by Vera.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Corona swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Vera counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Corona is trying to stand.
Vera prevents Corona from improving his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Vera dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Vera scores with a nice right hand.
Vera fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Corona shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Vera but Vera pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Corona fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Corona gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Vera.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Vera must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Vera cracks Corona with a solid left hand.
Vera wants to control from the top but Corona keeps moving.
Vera distracts Corona with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Frank Vera has got the better of the ground game so far.
Corona keeping moving, preventing Vera from controlling successfully.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Vera's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Corona keeping full guard, as Vera tries to pass.
Vera is stalling in the full guard.
Vera has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Corona trying to keep a closed guard but Vera is proving a slippery customer.
Vera controls from within his opponent's guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Frank Vera was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Vera feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Coronas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Corona is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Vera.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Vera digs a good body shot into Corona's ribs.
Vera sizes up Corona with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Vera jabs at Corona's body.
Frank Vera seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Vera clobbers Corona with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.


Corona is rocked!
Vera darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Oh Corona is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Vera is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Corona's half guard.
Corona is trying to stand.
Vera sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Corona seems to have got his legs back now.

Corona has hold of Vera's hands but Vera slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Vera connects with a nice short shot to Corona's temple.
Vera takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Corona is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Vera scores with a couple of nice shots.
Corona trying to control but Vera postures up.
Vera content to control rather than advance.
Corona is trying to maintain the position but Vera is very close to passing his half guard.

Vera perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Vera takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Corona is looking to improve his position.
Well, if Vera is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Vera is nestled in close to Corona, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Vera is looking to advance position but Corona won't allow it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Corona shoots for a takedown but Vera saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Vera drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Vera showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Vera clinches up with Corona and pushes him back against the cage.
Vera is trying to break the clinch but Corona has him pressed against the cage.
Vera wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Vera jumps guard but Corona stands there with Vera around his waist. Vera gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Corona breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Vera wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Corona lands with a slapping head kick.
Corona shoots in looking for a takedown. Vera tries to sprawl out of it but Corona keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Vera manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Vera cracks Corona with a good jab.
Vera wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

A jab-cross combination lands for Vera and sends Corona crashing to the mat! Vera follows him down to the mat - Corona regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Corona tries to kick Vera off in order to stand up. Vera Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Vera cracks Corona with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Vera immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Corona is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Vera!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Frank Vera!
