The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carmen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Carmen has picked Garza up - he's going for a ride! Carmen dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Carmen is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Carmen has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Garza is proving hard to escape from.

Garza drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Carmen manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Garza has Carmen in his guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
A head kick from Garza lands but Carmen takes it in his stride.
Garza shoots in for a takedown but Carmen shows good takedown defense.
Carmen pushes Garza up against the cage in a clinch.

Garza shoots in looking for a takedown but Carmen manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Garza's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Carmen swats away the attempt to clinch by Garza.

Carmen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Carmen is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Garza's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Garza's back!

Garza tries to lock up and control but Carmen gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
