Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Paul Castro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phillip McClelland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Castro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Phillip McClelland! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McClelland steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Castro. A momentary lapse in concentration from McClelland enables Castro to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. McClelland manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Castro controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Castro passes into half guard. McClelland wants to get back to his feet.
Castro is looking for a kimura here.
Castro uses his free foot to push down on McClelland's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for McClelland.
That's one minute gone in the round. Castro working for a submission but McClelland is keeping him at bay. Castro controlling the position easily from mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Poor strikes thrown by Castro there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
McClelland is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Castro jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but McClelland manages to avoid the submission attempt. Castro is working to tighten is grip on McClelland's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. McClelland has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Castro is really squeezing tight and eventually McClelland passes out! Castro breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Paul Castro! In his post fight interview, Paul Castro started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
