The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evil misses with a takedown
and Thompson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Evil won't be happy with that.
Thompson throws a strike aimed at the side of Evil's head but Evil avoids it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The strikes coming from Thompson are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Thompson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Evil has escaped the position, nice work there.

Thompson trying to control the position but Evil is working away.
Thompson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Thompson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Thompson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Evil gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Thompson wants to get back to his feet but Evil is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Evil tries to free his leg and advance position but Thompson is retaining full guard.
Thompson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Evil is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Sauron Evil.
Evil tries for a takedown but Thompson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Evil fails with the takedown.
Tony Thompson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sauron Evil.
Thompson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Evil to the mat! Evil manages to get full guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Thompson drops back looking for a leg! Evil is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Evil manages to kick Thompson off! Thompson jumps back into Evil's guard.
Thompson wants to stand but Evil has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Evil keeping moving, preventing Thompson from controlling successfully.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Thompson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tony Thompson dominated that round.

Thompson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Thompson trying to control the action but Evil is working from the bottom.
Thompson seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Evil is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
