PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tiger Jit Singh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacob Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Tiger Jit Singh has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Tiger Jit Singh seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tiger Jit Singh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jacob Mason!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Singh shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mason but Mason pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Singh will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mason blocks a head kick by Singh.
Singh misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Singh blocks a low kick nicely.
Mason tries to clinch up.
Singh shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mason defends it nicely.
Mason defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Singh.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tiger Jit Singh. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mason tries to keep at a distance but Singh has taken the fight into the clinch.

Mason's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Singh changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mason tries to avoid it but Singh manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mason to the ground. Mason escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jacob Mason seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Singh throws a head kick that misses.
Mason throws a series of punches but Singh moves out of range.

Singh moves into the clinch.
Singh tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mason smiles and moves away.

Mason has closed the distance and engaged Singh in a clinch.
Singh jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mason walks away with a smile on his face. Singh gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Mason tries to score a power double leg takedown but Singh sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mason somewhat.
Mason tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Singh paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Singh gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Mason misses with a takedown attempt - Singh sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Singh throws a right and a left that Mason avoids nicely.
Mason lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Singh circles away quickly and effectively.
Mason keeps the fight on the outside.
Mason throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Singh's waist but Singh gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mason off to one side.
Mason misses with a shot to the body
and Singh counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Singh fails with a takedown attempt.
Singh dodges the punch combination from Mason.
Singh circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mason shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Singh tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mason sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Singh somewhat.

Singh thuds his right hand into Mason's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Singh clinches.

Singh gets control of Mason's arms and successfully pulls guard. Singh will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Singh has his hands on Mason's head, controlling the position.
Singh wants to sweep here but Mason controlling him for the moment.
Mason is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Singh working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Mason.
Singh looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mason is one step ahead there.
Mason wants to pass the guard but Singh is keeping the position.
Singh bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mason's guard.
Singh advances position into side control!
Singh is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Mason will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Singh decides to take the fight back to the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tiger Jit Singh dominated that round.
That's time! Singh's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Singh tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mason swivels and escapes.
Mason tries to clinch but Singh moves away

and Singh counters by moving into the clinch.

Mason breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Singh closes the distance and pushes Mason back into the cage.
Mason is trying to drag Singh to the mat but Singh just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Mason is trying to force a seperation but Singh has the dominant position.
Mason looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Singh is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Mason gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Singh is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Mason is breathing heavily.
Mason tries to break the clinch but Singh is controlling the position.
Singh drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Mason shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Singh pinned against the cage. Singh gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Singh drives through and clinches with Mason against the cage.
Singh drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Mason pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Singh shoots in for a takedown but Mason shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Mason throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Singh.
Singh tries to close the distance and clinch but Mason swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Singh throws a sloppy head kick and Mason moves out of range easily.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Singh is on top in guard.
Mason is looking to stand up but Singh isn't so interested in that idea.

Mason has an active guard here but Singh has managed to pass into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Singh stops Mason from getting back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Tiger Jit Singh will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Mason has hold of Singh's hands but Singh slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Singh stops Mason from getting back to his feet.
Jacob Mason has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mason is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Mason tries to kick Singh off but Singh keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Singh is taking a breather. Mason says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Tiger Jit Singh is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Mason tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tiger Jit Singh showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Singh has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
