Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hong-man Choi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pes Barbos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hong-man Choi has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hong-man Choi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pes Barbos!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Choi tries to clinch

so Barbos counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Choi can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Barbos controls the pace.
Barbos won't allow Choi to get back to his feet.
Barbos wants to control from the top but Choi keeps moving.
Barbos postures up.
Barbos trying to control the position from guard on top but Choi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Choi will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Pes Barbos was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Barbos defending well as Choi loads up on a big left hand.
Barbos will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Barbos avoids a punch combination nicely.
Barbos walks forward, straight into a front kick from Choi.
Barbos tries to close the distance and clinch up but Choi swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Barbos shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Choi manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Choi tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Barbos controls from within his opponent's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Pes Barbos.
Barbos closes the distance and clinches up with Choi, looking for a takedown. Barbos pushes Choi against the ropes but Choi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Barbos tries to clinch but Choi is having none of it.
Barbos blocks a head kick by Choi.
Barbos gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Choi.
Choi throws a big shot that misses.
Choi scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Choi connects with a jab.
Barbos fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Barbos misses with a straight left.

Barbos drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Barbos tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Barbos misses with the ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Barbos throwing strikes but Choi manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Barbos gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Choi is keen to just control but Barbos is a slippery customer.
Barbos is trying is best to control the position here.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Barbos is trying to maintain the position but Choi is very close to passing his half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Choi is stalling here. Barbos is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Choi seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Barbos has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Pes Barbos will probably get the nod.
That's time! Choi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Choi tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Barbos manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Barbos takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Choi is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Choi is looking to slow Barbos down with leg kicks.
Barbos moves in looking to clinch but Choi pushes him off.
Barbos doesn't manage to clinch there - Choi circles away.
Barbos defending well as Choi loads up on a big left hand.
Choi connects with a right hand. Barbos shakes it off.
Choi misses with a kick to the body.
Choi is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Choi stuffs the takedown.
Barbos tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Choi paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Barbos moves out of range of the body kick from Choi.
Choi lands a leg kick that knocks Barbos off balance momentarily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
No joy there for Choi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Choi throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Choi missing with a left hand there. Barbos was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Barbos throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Choi's waist but Choi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Barbos off to one side.
Barbos tries to clinch up
and Barbos takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Choi looks to land a right hand but Barbos moved out of range.
Barbos rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Choi moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Choi uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Hong-man Choi is winning the standup battle so far.
Both fighters circling a little - Choi finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Barbos lands a jab to Choi's midsection.
Barbos with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Choi to score with a decent uppercut.
Hong-man Choi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Choi lands with an overhand left.
Choi ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Choi connects with a single shot there.


Barbos is rocked!
Barbos backs away from a small jab... but Choi lunges forward with a huge superman punch! Barbos crumples to the ground as his mouth piece is sent flying! Choi with a spectacular finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Hong-man Choi!
A less than humble Hong-man Choi misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
