PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sam Robinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Blackley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robinson comes to the ring accompanied by Eric Morrillo- Break Down the Doors. Blackley comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Shock To The System by Billy Idol kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Derek Blackley has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Sam Robinson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Derek Blackley!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Paul Tew and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robinson stuffs the takedown attempt from Blackley. Blackley gets slowly back to his feet.
Robinson shoots in looking for a takedown. Blackley tries to sprawl out of it but Robinson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Blackley manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Blackley darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Robinson is trying to stand up here but Blackley is controlling him well.
Blackley seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Robinson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Blackley throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Blackley not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Robinson trying to control here.
Blackley wants to take a breather but Robinson is having none of it.

Robinson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Blackley is working away from the top position though.
Blackley prevents Robinson from improving his position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Blackley is looking to clinch.
Blackley tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Robinson drives through and clinches with Blackley against the ropes.
Robinson tries to score a body lock takedown but Blackley shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Blackley manages to pull guard.

Robinson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Blackley has his takedown stuffed

so Robinson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Blackley escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Robinson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Robinson passes into half guard.

Robinson decides to stand up.
Robinson shoots in and drives through. Blackley sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sam Robinson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Blackley stuffs the takedown.
Robinson is breathing heavily.
Blackley misses with a takedown attempt

and Robinson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Blackley!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Blackley sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Robinson prevents Blackley from improving his position.
Robinson wants to stand up but Blackley is controlling the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Blackley avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Robinson.
Blackley is not content to let Robinson control the position.
Blackley makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Blackley.
Blackley trying to keep a closed guard but Robinson is proving a slippery customer.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Robinson wants to control from the top but Blackley keeps moving.
Blackley seems keen to control Robinson's posture.
Blackley is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Robinson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Robinson dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Blackley doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Robinson counters with a shoot takedown. Blackley fights it but they end up in guard.
Blackley trying to keep a closed guard but Robinson is proving a slippery customer.
Blackley manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Robinson manages to get himself to full guard.
Blackley trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Blackley would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Blackley chips away with some ground and pound.
Blackley is breathing heavily.
Robinson throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Blackley controlling from the top position.

Blackley postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Robinson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Blackley, into his guard.

Robinson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Blackley wants to clinch but Robinson slips to the side

and Robinson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Robinson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Robinson passes to side control.

Robinson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Blackley to his feet.
Blackley misses with a takedown

and Robinson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Blackley looking for a sweep. Not yet Blackley, not yet.
Robinson trying to control but Blackley is working from the bottom.
Blackley wants to stand up but Robinson is controlling him.

Robinson postures up and lands a big shot to Blackley's brow.
Blackley wants to sweep here but Robinson controlling him for the moment.

Blackley looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Robinson is defending well. Blackley quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Robinson has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Blackley celebrates on the ropes, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Derek Blackley!
