Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jake Barbossa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). West is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Cee Lo Green - F-bomb. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jake Barbossa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Robert West!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barbossa looks to land a combination. West sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Barbossa looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? West is fending him off so far but Barbossa persists. Nope, West circles away and we're back to standing.
Jake Barbossa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Barbossa feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
West keeping moving, preventing Barbossa from controlling successfully.
Barbossa content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
West is trying to keep Barbossa in close.
Barbossa trying to stand up but can't free himself from West's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Barbossa missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Barbossa is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Barbossa trying to control the position from guard on top but West is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jake Barbossa just wasn't active enough.

West gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Barbossa to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barbossa won't allow West to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Barbossa is looking to stand up but West won't let him.

Barbossa has gone for a leg lock! West slips out almost immediately though and dives into Barbossa's guard.
Barbossa tries to land a sweep but no joy.
West trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
West sitting in guard, not really doing much.
West trying to control the position from guard on top but Barbossa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Barbossa bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in West's guard.
Barbossa trying to control but West is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jake Barbossa.

Barbossa has managed to clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Barbossa has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by West after a bit of a struggle.

Barbossa has picked West up - he's going for a ride! Barbossa dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
West is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
West is not content to let Barbossa control the position.
West makes his way to full guard. A much better position for West.
Barbossa is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Barbossa wants to get up but he can't break West's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
West keeping moving, preventing Barbossa from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Barbossa dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



West darts in and clinches Barbossa up against the cage.
Barbossa drops to a knee looking for a takedown but West gets the underhooks and prevents it.
A short left from West.
Barbossa tries to score a body lock takedown but West shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
West landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Barbossa tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Barbossa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Barbossa goes for a takedown in the clinch but West prevents it.
West stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
A short left from West.
Barbossa is trying to drag West to the mat but West just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
West slows down the pace here.

West gets underhooks to prevent Barbossa's takedown attempt.
West unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Barbossa has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by West after a bit of a struggle.
West content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Barbossa is trying to work for a single leg takedown but West pulls him back up using the underhooks.
A nice glancing elbow lands by West.
Barbossa is looking for a takedown up against the cage. West gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
West stalling the fight.
Barbossa has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. West is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
West lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
West has Barbossa pushed against the cage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
West continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Robert West.
West wants to clinch.

West instigates a clinch.
Barbossa is working for takedown but West is calmly controlling the position for now.
West unloads a knee to the mid-section.
West scores a nice knee to the body.
A knee to the head by West.


It looks like Jake Barbossa has been cut.
Barbossa has West pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. West manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Come on West - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
West is pressed up against the cage. Barbossa has hold of a leg and is looking to drag West down to the mat. West avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
West misses with a wild combination.

West clinches.
West pushes Barbossa back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Robert West seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
West stops a takedown attempt from Barbossa.
Barbossa can't get the takedown.
West lands a knee to the head.
Barbossa tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. West smiles and moves away.
West throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Barbossa.

West drops Barbossa with a nice combination! West dives into Barbossa's guard, looking to finish!


Barbossa is rocked!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
West slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Oh Barbossa is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
West passes Barbossa's left leg - he's now in half guard.
West moves into full mount! Barbossa won't be happy about that!
West scoring with strikes but Barbossa is staying in there.
West takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Jake Barbossa overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
West landing punches.
West drops a big elbow. That's hurt Barbossa! More shots from West and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Robert West!
A relieved looking Robert West thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
