Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Shinichi Fuujin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fuujin comes into the arena with Soilwork - Rejection Role blaring out of the sound system. Miller has chosen Johnny Cash - Hurt as his entrance music. Shinichi Fuujin had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 146.3lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Matt Miller enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
28 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shinichi Fuujin! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matt Miller! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Micheangelo Fripello and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Miller.
Miller throws a leg kick but Fuujin moved away. Miller jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Miller takes a swing at Fuujin's ribcage but misses. Miller slips a straight right by Fuujin. Good work by Fuujin as he checks the leg kick. Fuujin misses with a jab, cross combination.
Miller's jab looks to have found its range, popping Fuujin under the eye. Matt Miller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Fuujin punishes Miller's body with a nice straight punch. Miller missing with a left hand there. Fuujin was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Miller misses with an uppercut. Fuujin saw that one coming. Miller punishes Fuujin's body with a nice straight punch. Miller scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Miller checks the leg kick nicely there.

That's one minute gone in the round. Miller shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Fuujin's guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Miller lands a couple of digs. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fuujin looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Miller wants to control from the top but Fuujin keeps moving. Miller got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fuujin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Miller has managed to get both his arms back between Fuujin's legs - danger averted. Miller landing some decent shots from guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Miller accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Fuujin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Miller is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Fuujin keeping moving, preventing Miller from controlling successfully. Miller looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Fuujin has his foot on Miller's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Miller works his way back into a safe position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Fuujin trying to keep a closed guard but Miller is proving a slippery customer.

Fuujin is working to avoid the ground and pound but Miller connects with a decent elbow. Miller moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Miller lands a nice forearm strike. Miller cracks Fuujin with an elbow. That is naaassty. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Miller scores with a couple of short elbows.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Miller gets to mount! Fuujin was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Miller landing strikes, looking to finish! Miller landing strikes from the mount and Fuujin is in trouble! Miller lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Fuujin takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Miller lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Fuujin keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Fuujin shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Miller manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Fuujin wants to control from the top but Miller keeps moving. Miller looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Miller has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Miller pulls Fuujin in to control the position. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Fuujin trying to control the position from guard on top but Miller is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Shinichi Fuujin just wasn't active enough. Fuujin fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Miller has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Miller tries to clinch there but Fuujin circles away.

Fuujin throws a leg kick but Miller sees it coming and moves out of range. Miller staying out of range there. Fuujin takes a swing at Miller's ribcage but misses. Fuujin slips under a jab from Miller. Fuujin leaves Miller with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Miller misses with a low kick.

Miller gets a clinch. Fuujin lands a hook that snaps the head of Miller backwards. Miller tries to work over Fuujin's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. A left hand lands to the body for Fuujin.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Fuujin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Miller is trying to control the action in half guard but Fuujin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Fuujin wants to sweep here but Miller controlling him for the moment. Miller wants to control from the top but Fuujin keeps moving. Fuujin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

A close second round but Matt Miller will probably get the nod - 10:9. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Miller looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. A jab from Fuujin does it's job there. Miller thows a body shot but no joy. Miller takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Fuujin slips a straight right by Miller. Fuujin throws an overhand right that lands on Miller's shoulder, as Miller tries to avoid the shot. Fuujin throws a nice inside leg kick. Miller keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.

Fuujin checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Miller tries to close the distance and clinch but Fuujin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. A big left from Fuujin misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fuujin thows a body shot but no joy. Miller takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Fuujin paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Fuujin scoring well with a low kick there.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Fuujin. Miller buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Fuujin moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Miller keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Fuujin thows a body shot but no joy. A big left from Fuujin misses. Miller will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Fuujin connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Miller lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Miller throws a jab but it's blocked by Fuujin. Miller misses with a low kick. Donk. Miller catches Fuujin right on the button with a cross. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Fuujin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Miller tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Fuujin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Miller shoots and misses and Miller takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Fuujin throws a body punch but Miller moves out of range. Miller throws out a loose jab but Fuujin uses good head movement to avoid it. Miller lands with a hook. Fuujin tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Shinichi Fuujin is winning the standup battle so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nice sprawl there from Fuujin as Miller shoots in. Shinichi Fuujin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Miller. Miller fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Miller throws a series of strikes that have Fuujin backpedaling.
Fuujin thows a left - swing and a miss! Miller uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Fuujin. Fuujin staying out of range there. Fuujin lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Fuujin slips under a jab from Miller. Miller moves out of range of the leg kick from Fuujin. Nice sprawl there from Fuujin as Miller shoots in. Fuujin throws a leg kick which misses Miller's front leg but catches the back leg as Miller tries to avoid it. Miller bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Fuujin's head. Fuujin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Miller was well out of range. Poor timing from Fuujin.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Miller throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Fuujin fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Fuujin is looking to wear down Miller with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Fuujin scores with a body shot.

Fuujin defends it nicely. Miller takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Miller shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but Shinichi Fuujin did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Shinichi Fuujin has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Miller tries for a takedown but Fuujin sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. A low kick from Miller lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Fuujin has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Fuujin and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Miller misses with the body kick and Fuujin counters with a lovely shot to the body. Fuujin is looking to land body kicks. Miller steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Fuujin. Miller ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Fuujin moves away. Miller wants to clinch up but Fuujin keeps it at a distance.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Matt Miller is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Miller thows a huge punch but Fuujin dodges it nicely.
Fuujin is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Miller pulls his head out easily. Miller landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Miller wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fuujin keeps working.
