Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Yon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Hearns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hearns has chosen System Of a Down - Chop Suey! as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Tommy Hearns is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tommy Hearns!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Colin Fray and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yon is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hearns sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Hearns misses with the combination.

Yon instigates a clinch.
Hearns is looking to break free of the clinch but Yon has double underhooks.
Yon keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Hearns's efforts to push away.
Yon is trying to pull guard but Hearns has him pressed against the cage.
Yon tries a body shot but Hearns blocks it.
Yon tries to pull guard but Hearns holds him up against the cage and eventually Yon drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Yon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hearns wants to break the clinch but can't.
Hearns wants to break free but Yon has control.
Yon fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Hearns wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Yon misses with the head strike.
Yon is trying to pull guard but Hearns turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Hearns is trying to push Yon away but Yon has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Yon swings wildly with an uppercut but Hearns uses good head movement to avoid it.
Yon misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Hearns blocks a body shot from Yon.
Yon comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Yon creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Hearns's defenses.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Yon obliges.
Yon tries to pull guard but Hearns holds him up against the cage and eventually Yon drops back down to his feet.
Yon tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Hearns is looking to break free of the clinch but Yon has double underhooks.

Hearns breaks from the clinch.
Yon moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Yon throws a series of punches but Hearns avoids them all with ease.
Yon throws a right and a left that both miss.
Yon closes the distance and clinches up with Hearns, looking for a takedown. Yon pushes Hearns against the cage but Hearns circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Yon has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Hearns keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Yon finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Hearns on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Yon misses with a hook. Hearns ducked under it nicely.
A punch combination from Yon misses.
Yon throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Hearns connects with a nice looking jab.
Hearns fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Yon on the side of the head.
Hearns dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Tommy Hearns is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Yon is breathing heavily.
Hearns thuds a left hand into Yon's body.
Hearns scores with a one two! Yon had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Yon on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hearns connects with a body shot that sends Yon's belly button to the back.
Hearns lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Hearns lands with a good body shot.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Yon. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Hearns connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Yon! He's out on his feet! Hearns rushes in and drops Yon with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Tommy Hearns! Tommy Hearns retains his light heavyweight title!
Tommy Hearns decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
