Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ymcmb Junior! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matt Carroll! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Eliza Hachem and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Junior tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Carroll manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Carroll pushes Junior up against the cage in a clinch. Junior tries to break the clinch but Carroll is controlling the position. The referee is keeping an eye on Carroll - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Carroll manages to pull guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Junior would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Junior knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carroll on the ground. Carroll has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Junior off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Junior pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Carroll pushes Junior up against the cage in a clinch. Carroll blocking some punches.
Carroll escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Carroll stuffs the takedown attempt from Junior. Junior gets slowly back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carroll moves into the clinch successfully.
Junior has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Carroll stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Junior tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Carroll smiles and moves away.
Junior fails with an attempt to clinch.
Carroll tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Matt Carroll is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Carroll throws a sloppy head kick and Junior moves out of range easily. Carroll throws a head kick that misses. Carroll misses with a head kick.
A head kick misses from Carroll. Junior looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ymcmb Junior. That's going to take a lot out of him. Junior throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Carroll's waist but Carroll gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Junior off to one side.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carroll pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Junior moves in looking to clinch but Carroll pushes him off. Matt Carroll seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Carroll throws a sloppy head kick and Junior counters with a straight right hand. Carroll misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Junior throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Carroll's waist but Carroll gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Junior off to one side. Junior is breathing heavily. Junior dodges the punch combination from Carroll.
Carroll moves into range and clinches up with Junior. Junior gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Carroll.
This has been an exciting period of action! Junior is trying to break the clinch but Carroll is controlling him. Carroll tries for a takedown but Junior manages to get underhooks.
Carroll manages to pull guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Junior wants to control from the top but Carroll keeps moving. Junior has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Junior wants to pass the guard but Carroll is keeping the position. Junior really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
We're going to have a standup here because Ymcmb Junior wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. A combination from Junior does no damage. Junior avoids a punch combination nicely.
Junior shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Carroll as he jumps to the side. Carroll thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Junior if he has to take too many more of those.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carroll throws a head kick that misses. Sloppy strikes from Carroll. Those never looked like landing. Junior avoids the head kick by Carroll.
Carroll swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Junior moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Carroll drives through and clinches with Junior against the cage.
Carroll pulls guard successfully.
Junior pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Carroll is keeping the position for now. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Carroll pushes Junior off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matt Carroll dominated that round. The cut man is working on Matt Carroll's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Carroll manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Junior throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Carroll on the side of the head. Junior shoots in looking for a takedown but Carroll manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Junior's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Carroll throws a head kick that half lands.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Junior gets tackled into the cage by Carroll. Carroll maintains the clinch. Carroll successfully pulls guard.
Junior tries to stand but Carroll is controlling from the bottom. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Junioris looking to pass into half guard but Carroll pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Carroll is in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Junior working for submissions but it's allowed Carroll to get to half guard.
Carroll trying to control the pace. Carroll works his foot free and advances to mount. Junior is in all sorts of trouble here.
Carroll should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Carroll takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carroll lands a heavy elbow. Carroll controlling from the full mount. A nice elbow there by Carroll. Carroll content just to control the position here. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Junior is trying desperately to improve position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carroll controlling the position easily from mount. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Matt Carroll has got the better of the ground game so far.
Matt Carroll has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Carroll forces Junior back against the cage and clinches. Carroll has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Junior regains guard immediately. Junior will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Carroll slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carroll slips nicely into half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Carroll in particular looking to stall. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Let's hope that Carroll has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matt Carroll showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Matt Carroll's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Junior shoots in but Carroll avoids the takedown attempt easily. Junior tries for a takedown but Carroll sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Carroll misses with a few strikes there.
Carroll throws a right and a left that Junior avoids nicely. A head kick by Carroll misses enabling Junior to counter with a crisp jab. Carroll lands a high kick to the side of Junior's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Carroll dives into guard, looking to finish.

It looks like Ymcmb Junior has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Junior looking to control.
Oh Junior is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Carroll is pushing down on Junior's leg trying to pass to half guard. Junior is fighting to maintain full guard but Carroll has managed to sneak the leg through. Junior seems to have got his legs back now. Carroll performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Matt Carroll was stalling too much, according to the referee. Carroll has Junior up against the cage in a clinch.
Junior goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Carroll has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Junior uses from the top position. Carroll has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Carroll pushes Junior off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Junior is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Junior tries to free his leg and advance position but Carroll is retaining full guard. Carroll kicks Junior off and gets to his feet. Carroll dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Wooooo! This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Junior. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. Carroll misses with a series of wild punches.

Junior dives in and grabs Carroll's left leg, looking for a takedown. Carroll pushes down on Junior's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ymcmb Junior. That's going to take a lot out of him. Junior blocks a head kick by Carroll.

Junior tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Carroll swivels and escapes. Junior fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Carroll darts in and clinches Junior up against the cage. Carroll managing to block the knees to the body from Junior.
Carroll decides to pull guard. Junior wants to pass the guard but Carroll is keeping the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carroll kicks Junior off and gets to his feet. Junior scores with a kick to the midsection. Carroll pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Carroll throws a head kick but Junior moves out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Junior is defended easily by Carroll. Junior shoots in looking for a takedown. Carroll tries to sprawl out of it but Junior keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Carroll manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Carroll throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
And that's the end of the fight! Matt Carroll comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Carroll has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Matt Carroll! A very excited looking Matt Carroll rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
