Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Sam Fisher!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dan Hammer!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fisher looks to score with a jab to the body but Hammer is just out of range.
Hammer keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hammer ducks right into an uppercut from Fisher.
Hammer doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Fisher counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Hammer fails with an attempt to clinch.
Hammer closes the distance and clinches up with Fisher, looking for a takedown. Hammer pushes Fisher against the cage but Fisher circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Fisher lands with a good body shot.
Hammer tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Fisher manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Fisher throws an overhand right that lands on Hammer's shoulder, as Hammer tries to avoid the shot.
Hammer tries to bum rush Fisher with a series of wild strikes but Fisher uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Hammer tries to clinch but Fisher moves out of range.
Hammer throws a head kick but Fisher moves out of range.

Hammer moves into range and clinches up with Fisher.

Sam Fisher has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Hammer.

Hammer tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Fisher paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Dan Hammer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hammer decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Fisher, up you get!
This has been an exciting period of action!

and Fisher counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Fisher fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hammer manages to avoid it.
Hammer looks to land a left hand but Fisher moved out of range nicely.
Fisher misses with an uppercut.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Fisher counters with a shoot takedown. Hammer fights it but they end up in guard.
Fisher stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hammer swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fisher throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hammer sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Hammer looks for a takedown but Fisher sprawls well.
Hammer tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Fisher swivels and escapes.
Hammer doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Fisher counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hammer won't be happy with that.
Sam Fisher has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Hammer.

Fisher postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Fisher is looking to take a break and control but Hammer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hammer wants to clinch up but Fisher keeps it at a distance.
Hammer uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Fisher.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Hammer.
Fisher throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Hammer shoots in looking for a takedown. Fisher tries to sprawl out of it but Hammer keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Fisher manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Hammer tries to close the distance and clinch but Fisher swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Hammer is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hammer tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Fisher wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Fisher ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hammer moves away.

Hammer throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fisher's waist but Fisher gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hammer off to one side.

Fisher shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hammer manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Fisher stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Fisher wants it to stay on the feet.

Hammer tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Fisher manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Hammer manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Fisher on his heels. He'll look to pass Fisher's guard now, I'm sure.
