Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jon Snow! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Frank Mir! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mir throws a jab but it's blocked by Snow. Mir fails to land with a series of punches.
Mir misses with an uppercut. Mir missing with a left hand there. Snow was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Mir throws a jab but it's blocked by Snow. Mir scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Snow shoots for a double leg takedown but Mir sprawls well. He's pushed Snow's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Snow drives through with a takedown into Mir's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Snow is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Snow is pushing down on Mir's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mir is fighting to maintain full guard but Snow has managed to sneak the leg through. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Snow seems to be working for a kimura but Mir defends the submission attempt. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Snow is figuring out what he wants to do next. Snow thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mir's head. Mir wants to control but Snow is keeping busy and won't allow it. Snow perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Snow is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Snow sitting and controlling from the half guard. Snow passes the guard and advances to mount! Mir bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Mir has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Snow is proving hard to escape from. Mir looks gassed! Snow is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mir wants to get up but he can't break Snow's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Snow is adopting a defensive guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Snow drives through with a takedown into guard. Snow has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Snow passes Mir's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Snow controlling the pace. Snow throwing shots but Mir is blocking nicely. Mir looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Snow works his way into full mount! Snow sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Mir can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mir's guard. Snow seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Snow throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Snow stalling. Mir wants to control but Snow is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Mir blocking the ground and pound attempt from Snow. Snow trying to advance position but Mir counters by regaining guard. Mir can't keep his opponent in guard - Snow advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Well, if Snow is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Snow moves nicely into side control. You can see the frustration on Mir's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. A lull in the action here as Snow stalls from top position.

Jon Snow has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Snow shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mir manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Snow showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Snow advances to half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Snow performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Snow is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
