PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Ringo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Evan Ramirez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ramirez has chosen Turn My Swag On as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Ringo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Evan Ramirez!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ramirez has a takedown stuffed.
Ramirez shoots in but no luck this time.
Ringo avoids a kick to the body.

Ramirez clinches with his opponent.
Ramirez is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Ringo gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Johnny Ringo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Evan Ramirez.

Ramirez jumps into guard, dragging Ringo to the mat.

Ringo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Ringo drops back looking for a leg! Ramirez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ramirez manages to kick Ringo off! Ringo jumps back into Ramirez's guard.

Ramirez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ringo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Ringo scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Ramirez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Ramirez looks gassed!

Ringo is looking for a kimura but Ramirez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ringo to get the leverage.
Ringo looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ramirez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Ringo wants to pass to mount but Ramirez is defending the position.

Ringo is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ramirez doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ringo.
Ringo wants to take a breather but Ramirez is having none of it.
Ramirez tries to roll over but Ringo keeps him under control.
Ringo is tying to control. Ramirez wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Ringo is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Ringo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ramirez defends it well.

Ramirez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ringo has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Ringo tries to control but Ramirez wriggling away.

Ringo looking to secure an arm triangle but Ramirez defends it well.
Ramirez is squirming around, avoiding Ringo's attempts to control the action.

Ringo is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Ramirez can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Ringo is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Ramirez is in real trouble.

Ramirez is rocked!


It looks like Evan Ramirez has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Ramirez seems to have recovered his senses.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ramirez grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ringo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Ringo has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Ramirez's face.
Ramirez in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Ramirez is looking to get to half guard.
Ramirez takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Ringo lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Ringo fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Ringo wants to control the pace but Ramirez is squirming around nicely.

Ringo looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ringo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Ramirez can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Ramirez tries to hold on but Ringo pushes him away.

Ringo goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Ramirez is on top in guard.
Ramirez seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Ringo passes Ramirez's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Ringo looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Ringo passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Ramirez!
Ramirez is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Ringo has taken his back.
Ringo tries to keep control of the position but Ramirez is staying busy.
Ringo gets his hands free as Ramirez looks to control.

Ringo scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Ramirez is looking for a way out.

Ringo is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Ramirez is defending well though. Ringo let's go of the attempt for now.
Johnny Ringo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ringo misses with a punch to the head.
Ramirez manages to reverse the position and now he's in Ringo's guard. Nice work there by Ramirez.
Ramirez wants to pass the guard but Ringo is keeping the position.

Ringo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Ramirez won't allow Ringo to sweep him here.

Ramirez not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Ramirez stands up and waves to Ringo to follow him.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Ringo drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Ramirez manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ringo has Ramirez in his guard.

Ramirez is looking to take a break and control but Ringo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Ringo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Ringo gets full guard.
Ramirez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Ramirez is sitting in close to Ringo's body. Ringo has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Ramirez is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Ramirez is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Ringo.
