Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jacek Kowalski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wanderlei Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jacek Kowalski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Wanderlei Silva!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kowalski shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Kowalski was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Silva wants to hold on but Kowalski pushes him away.
Silva tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Kowalski is working for a guillotine from mount but Silva frees his head quite easily.

Silva tries to lock up and control but Kowalski gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva is looking to improve his position but Kowalski isn't that keen on the idea.
Silva reaches up to try and control the position but Kowalski seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Silva rolls and tries to escape and now Kowalski has his back!

Silva is trapped and Kowalski is scoring with shots to the head and body.

Silva is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Kowalski is riding his opponent, not letting Silva buck him off.

Silva wants to control his opponent's hands but Kowalski gets his hands free.
Kowalski controlling well, preventing Silva from escaping the position.

Silva has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.

Kowalski is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Silva defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Silva is trying to control Kowalski's posture but Kowalski avoids it.

Kowalski is looking for a kimura but Silva is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kowalski to get the leverage.

We're going to have a standup here because Jacek Kowalski wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Kowalski tries to clinch but Silva is having none of it.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kowalski swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Silva manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Kowalski is squirming around, avoiding Silva's attempts to control the action.

Kowalski tries to control the position but Silva now has his back.
Will Silva go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

That was a close second round but I would say that Jacek Kowalski will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Silva doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Kowalski counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Silva's guard now.
Kowalski slips nicely into half guard.
Silva looks like he's trying to stand up.
Kowalski lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Silva wants to improve his position but Kowalski is controlling well.

Kowalski stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kowalski sprawls well. Kowalski wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Silva gets slowly back to his feet.

Silva is looking to clinch but Kowalski is avoiding it.

and Kowalski counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Silva!
Kowalski takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Silva is just holding on here. Kowalski manages to take his back.

Kowalski has the hooks in. Silva is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Silva takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Silva holding both Kowalski 's hands and preventing any damage.
Can Silva hold on?! Kowalski is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
Kowalski slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kowalski blocks Silva's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jacek Kowalski showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kowalski, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
