PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Suzuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Travis Faure (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Suzuki might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Codename 47. Thiago Suzuki has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Thiago Suzuki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Travis Faure!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Bruno Hogan and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Suzuki goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
A solid leg kick lands there for Suzuki.
Suzuki really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The crowd cheers as Suzuki lands an impressive looking overhand right. Faure doesn't seem phased though.
Suzuki fails with a takedown attempt.
Faure lands a lovely overhand right.
Faure takes a swing at Suzuki's ribcage but misses.
A slapping leg kick lands for Suzuki.
Suzuki fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Faure manages to avoid it.
Suzuki looks for the body kick but Faure saw that one coming.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Faure.
Faure takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Suzuki has closed the distance and engaged Faure in a clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Suzuki tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Faure avoids it.
A bit of stalling here from Suzuki.
Suzuki can't find room to land a body shot as Faure controls the action.
Suzuki misses with a punch to the body.
Faure wants to get back to striking at distance but Suzuki won't allow it.
Suzuki leaning against his opponent.
Suzuki drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Faure gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Suzuki escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Suzuki connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Suzuki throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Faure throws a right and a left that both miss.
Faure scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Suzuki moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Suzuki rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Faure connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Faure looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Faure throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Suzuki was covering up waiting for the punch and Faure finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Suzuki has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Suzuki wants to stand and escape but Faure is having none of it.
Suzuki controls Faure momentarily but Faure frees himself.
Faure working some strikes from top position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Faure has gone for a leg lock! Suzuki slips out almost immediately though and dives into Faure's guard.
Suzuki slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Faure is looking for a sweep.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Faure wants to control but Suzuki postures up.
Suzuki trying to control the position but Faure is working away.
Suzuki is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Faure is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Faure is trying to improve his position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Suzuki wants to lay and pray for a moment but Faure keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thiago Suzuki dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Faure throws a combination. Suzuki tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Suzuki throws a hook but Faure blocks it.
Faure takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Faure looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Suzuki misses with a body kick.

Faure throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Suzuki tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Faure is in Suzuki's guard.
Faure stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Suzuki swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Faure in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Faure postures up in Suzuki's guard and throws a big left but Suzuki blocks it.

Suzuki working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Faure doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Faure manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Faure is in close to Suzuki's body, working some short punches and elbows.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Faure is looking to work some ground and pound but Suzuki has wrist control.
Faure throws a big elbow that misses.
Faure working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Suzuki holds on and takes a little breather.
Faure in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Suzuki looking for a guillotine here but Faure defends easily.
Faure throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Suzuki works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Faure throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Suzuki wants to sweep but no luck.
Suzuki is trying to keep Faure in close.
Faure stands up over Suzuki, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Faure trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Faure throws a big right hand that misses.
Faure throwing strikes from guard but Suzuki blocks nicely.
Suzuki preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Faure throwing strikes but missing.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Faure accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Suzuki has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Faure should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Suzuki has tightened it up now! Faure should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
