Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Rory Devaney! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Shane Chojacki! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Franklyn Lucas and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chojacki tries to close the distance and clinch up but Devaney swats him away and circles back towards the center. Chojacki gets the takedown into side control. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. A lull in the action here. Chojacki is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Chojacki prevents Devaney from escaping the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. A lull in the action here.
That's one minute gone in the round.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Shane Chojacki hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Chojacki shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Devaney defends it nicely. Devaney gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Chojacki to score an easy takedown into full guard. Chojacki forces his way into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Chojacki in particular looking to stall. Devaney wants to get back to his feet.
Chojacki looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Let's hope that Chojacki has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Shane Chojacki has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Chojacki tries to close the distance and clinch up but Devaney swats him away and circles back towards the center. Devaney throws a good cross that connects.

Chojacki gets the takedown into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Devaney wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Devaney seems a little lost for a moment, as Chojacki dominates the positioning. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Shane Chojacki has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Devaney misses with a two punch combination.

Chojacki misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Devaney throws a shot from downtown. Chojacki moves away and avoids it. Rory Devaney is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Devaney scores with a jab to the head.
Devaney lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Chojacki circles away quickly and effectively. Chojacki closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Devaney quickly recovers to half guard. Chojacki takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Devaney looks like he's trying to stand up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chojacki keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Rory Devaney wasn't doing enough on the ground. Devaney throws a series of punches but Chojacki avoids them all with ease. Devaney jabs Chojacki right on the nose. Chojacki blinks but takes it well. Devaney is looking to clinch. Chojacki closes this distance looking for a takedown but Devaney circles away. Chojacki shoots for a double leg takedown but Devaney sprawls well. He's pushed Chojacki's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Rory Devaney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shane Chojacki.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Devaney lands a big uppercut and Chojacki crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Chojacki looks OK. Devaney waves Chojacki back to his feet!
Chojacki is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Devaney misses with a straight right. Chojacki is still on wobbly legs! Can Devaney finish him? Horrible takedown by Chojacki or perhaps it was just good defense by Devaney which made him look bad. Chojacki seems to have recovered his senses. Chojacki takes one to the side of the head.
Chojacki drops his hands momentarily. Devaney doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Chojacki staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Chojacki doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rory Devaney! Rory Devaney very nearly forgot to thank TFP Graphics - Pit Inc amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
