Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Cage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Knockout King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). King has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, James Cage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 15 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Knockout King!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Fedor Mirinova and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Cage with that takedown attempt.
King looks gassed!

Cage fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with King, pushing him back against the cage.
Cage lands a damaging elbow.
King can't break the clinch.
Cage is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.

Cage pulls guard successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cage looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Cage bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in King's guard.
King avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Cage pushing down on King's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Cage is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

King is in a horrible position here. Cage smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Cage takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
King really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cage. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cage punching from mount but King doing a good job of avoiding damage.

Cage is going oldschool here, as he tries to force King to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so King shrugs it off.

Cage thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Cage stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
King throws a right and a left that both miss.

Cage rushes King and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Cage changes levels and goes for a takedown here. King fights it off and pushes away nicely.
King takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Cage shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has King pinned against the cage. King gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Horrible takedown by Cage or perhaps it was just good defense by King which made him look bad.

Cage shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with King but King pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Cage escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
King misses with a jab, cross combination.
Both fighters circling a little - Cage finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
King takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

King throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Knockout King is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Cage gets in close and instigates a clinch.
King has had enough of the clinch but Cage keeps him there for the moment.

Cage manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Cage pulls King in close to his closed guard and prevents King from doing any damage or advancing position.

Cage working for a triangle but King defends it easily.
King would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Cage pushes King up against the cage in a clinch.

Cage is trying to trip King. He has hold of a leg but King is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Cage persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Cage missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Cage slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Cage sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but King is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Cage tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Cage is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt King will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Cage tries to score with some ground and pound. King controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Cage has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
James Cage is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
King is breathing heavily.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Cage has King pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. King manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Cage is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Cage changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. King tries to avoid it but Cage manages to keep hold of a leg and drag King to the ground. King escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Cage feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

King is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Cage fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and King has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

King is trying to break the clinch but Cage has him pressed against the cage.
Cage wants to take the fight to the mat but King manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

King throws a series of punches but Cage avoids them all with ease.

Cage will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Cage stands up and beckons King to his feet.

Cage's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Cage manages to pull guard.
Cage is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that King can do to turn this around?

Cage pushes King off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
King scores with a three punch combo!
King misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Cage shoots in and drives through. King sprawls well.

Cage decides to pull guard.
Cage pulls King in close to his closed guard and prevents King from doing any damage or advancing position.
King wants to stand but Cage has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Cage working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. King doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. King manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

King is fighting to break Cage's control of his arms but Cage is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Well Cage has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
