The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin tries to land a front kick but Jones steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
A decent looking cross lands there for Martin.
Martin throws a shot from downtown. Jones moves away and avoids it.
Martin misses with a head kick.
Martin avoids the body shot from Jones.
Martin lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Jones uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Martin.
Martin steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Jones.
Jones throws a jab when Martin was well out of range.
Jones throws a lazy head kick
and Martin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Martin throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Martin on the wrong end of a nice jab.

It looks like Frank Martin has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jones tries a head kick but it misses.
Martin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jones manages to avoid it.

Martin throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Martin swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Jones.
Martin is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Jones checks a leg kick nicely.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jones is defended easily by Martin.
Martin avoids the body shot from Jones.
Martin feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Jones's calf.
Martin thows a body shot but no joy.
Frank Martin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones throws a head kick but Martin moves out of range.

Martin wants to slow Jones down by chopping away at his legs.
Jones takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Martin avoids a kick to the body.
The fighters circle momentarily. Martin darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
This has been an exciting period of action!

and Jones cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Martin lunges at Jones with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Jones's hand.
Martin fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Jones.
Jones lands a jab.
Jones fails to land with a series of punches.
Martin lands a slapping body shot.

Jones throws the left hand but Martin avoids the punch easily.
Jones throws a leg kick but Martin sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Martin dips to his left and cracks Jones with an uppercut!
Martin needs to keep his hands up - Jones had a free shot at his head there.
Martin misses with a left hand
and Jones counters with a nice low kick that buckles Martin's knee momentarily.
Martin throws a hook but Jones avoids it easily.

Martin closes the distance and clinches.
Nice elbow from Martin.
Martin lands a nice uppercut.
Martin lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Jones cracks Martin with a nice body shot.

Jones has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Martin regains guard immediately.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Martin pulls Jones in close to prevent any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Martin avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Jones trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Jones is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Jones tries to free his leg and advance position but Martin is retaining full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The crowd cheers as Jones lands an impressive looking overhand right. Martin doesn't seem phased though.
Martin throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Jones's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Martin dominated that round.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Jones feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Martin's calf.

It looks like Bones Jones has been cut.
Martin throws a body punch but Jones moves out of range.
Jones throws a shot from downtown. Martin moves away and avoids it.
Jones lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Martin lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Jones is rocked!
Martin walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Jones drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Martin swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Jones's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
