Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dante Sparda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Sparda.
Sparda throws a big shot that misses.
Sparda looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Carter scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Sparda bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Sparda is staying tight to Carter's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Carter is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Sparda asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Sparda wants to free his trapped foot but Carter is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Sparda is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Carter sees it coming and defends easily.

Sparda uses his free foot to push down on Carter's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Carter.

Carter lands a big head kick that sends Sparda tumbling to the mat! Carter takes a step backwards and waves Sparda back to his feet - he wants the finish!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sparda shoots in for a takedown but Carter shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Oh Sparda is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sparda tries to score a power double leg takedown but Carter sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sparda somewhat.
Sparda seems to have got his legs back now.

Carter cracks Sparda with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Carter has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Sparda to stand back up!

Carter looks to score with a jab to the body but Sparda is just out of range.

Carter gets caught napping as Sparda dives in and scores a takedown. Carter manages to retain guard.
Carter is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sparda is controlling him.
Sparda missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Sparda postures up in Carter's guard and throws a big left but Carter blocks it.

Sparda stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carter swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sparda might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sparda accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Carter wants to stand but Sparda is controlling the position.

Sparda tries to free his leg and advance position but Carter is retaining full guard.

Dante Sparda overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Carter paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Sparda shoots for a double leg takedown but Carter sprawls well. He's pushed Sparda's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sparda.

and Carter counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Sparda is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
