Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Damian Roshan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and António Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roshan comes to the cage accompanied by 2Pac - Last Mother Fucker Breathin'. Maia is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: It's a kind of magic by Queen. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
23 - 13 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, Damian Roshan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, António Maia! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Roshan swats away the attempt to clinch by Maia. Roshan delivers a nice body kick. A punch lands to the side of Maia 's head but he takes it in his stride. Roshan throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Roshan scores with a shot to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Maia. Maia tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Roshan moves into the clinch. Maia tries to score a body lock takedown but Roshan shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Maia tries to pull guard but Roshan holds him up against the cage and eventually Maia drops back down to his feet.
Damian Roshan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of António Maia. Roshan has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Maia uses from the top position. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Roshan is looking to stand up but Maia isn't so interested in that idea.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maia trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Roshan manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Roshan wants to stand but Maia is controlling his posture from full guard. Maia wants to sweep here but Roshan controlling him for the moment. Roshan has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Maia is proving hard to escape from. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Roshan gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Maia connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Roshan's hands.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Roshan dives in and scores a takedown into Maia's guard. Roshan would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Maia lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Roshan! Maia tries to control but Roshan wriggling away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Roshan has given up his back. Will we see Maia going for some submissions?
Maia is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Maia struggling to keep hold of the position.
Roshan trying to get back to his feet but Maia is in full control for now. Maia throwing damaging strikes from the back! Roshan could be in trouble here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Maia working for the choke. Roshan is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Maia.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Maia throwing strikes and Roshan squirms under the pressure, ending up mounted. Maia working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Roshan turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Maia off and cradles Roshan's limp body as Maia celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). António Maia! António Maia decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
