Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dennis Taylor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Schmidt! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sloppy strikes from Taylor. Those never looked like landing. Taylor looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Schmidt moves into the clinch. Schmidt comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Schmidt will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Taylor up against the ropes. Schmidt lands a nice elbow from the clinch. With the fighters clinched against the ropes, Schmidt creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Taylor wants to get back to striking at distance but Schmidt won't allow it.
Taylor is trying to push Schmidt away but Schmidt has him pressed against the ropes, so he's going nowhere. Taylor throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Schmidt. Taylor wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Taylor really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Schmidt leaning his opponent against the ropes. A nice right hand lands inside from Schmidt. Taylor tries to break free but Schmidt pushes him back against the ropes. Taylor takes an elbow to the temple. Schmidt lands a shoulder strike. Taylor being controlled against the ropes. A nice left hand lands by Schmidt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Schmidt unloads a knee to the mid-section. Taylor lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Schmidt has Taylor pressed against the ropes.
Schmidt lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Taylor or not. Schmidt lands an elbow just above Taylor 's eye.
Taylor is rocked! Schmidt smacks Taylor right on the bridge of the nose with a massive elbow! Another one lands and Taylor goes down! He's clearly dazed - will he beat the count? 3,4,5,6,7... up to one knee... 8,9,10! He's not made it! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Elbows). John Schmidt!
