Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shane Carwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Luke Kilpatrick!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Hugh Johnson and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kilpatrick steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Carwin.
Kilpatrick just misses with a punch to the body.
Kilpatrick connects with a body shot that sends Carwin's belly button to the back.
Carwin takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Carwin wants to clinch up but Kilpatrick keeps it at a distance.
Carwin tries to clinch but Kilpatrick is having none of it.
A nice inside leg kick there by Kilpatrick. That's going to slow Carwin down.
Carwin's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Kilpatrick connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Carwin scrambles back to his feet.


It looks like Shane Carwin has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kilpatrick clinches with his opponent.
Carwin throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Kilpatricks head.
Carwin makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Carwin is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Kilpatrick taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kilpatrick's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Carwin makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Carwin fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Carwin working hard to break the clinch.

Kilpatrick breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kilpatrick listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Carwin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Carwin is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Kilpatrick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Carwin takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Carwin is breathing heavily.
Kilpatrick scores with a shot to the body.
Kilpatrick ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Carwin takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Kilpatrick lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Carwin at a distance.

Kilpatrick has taken the fight to the clinch.

Kilpatrick manages to break the clinch.
Kilpatrick misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Kilpatrick changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Carwin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Kilpatrick is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Carwin's shoulder. That is not cool.
Kilpatrick advances to full mount.
Kilpatrick looking to control and managing it successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kilpatrick putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Kilpatrick is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Carwin can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Kilpatrick controlling from the full mount.
Kilpatrick pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Kilpatrick fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!


Carwin is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kilpatrick connects with a bit shot that sees Carwin covering up! More strikes from Kilpatrick and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Kilpatrick is our winner by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Luke Kilpatrick!
Luke Kilpatrick gave a mention to CEC Nutrition Q159 (*$75*) in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
