The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz cracks a nice hook into Oppong's ribs.
Cruz throws a nice looking combination but Oppong bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Cruz manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Oppong on his heels. He'll look to pass Oppong's guard now, I'm sure.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Cruz is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Oppong is pressing down on Cruz's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Cruz loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cruz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Oppong can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cruz controls the pace.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Cruz shoots in and gets a takedown into Oppong's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Oppong uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Cruz.
Cruz scores with a crisp jab that stopped Oppong in his tracks.

Cruz throws a looping overhand right but Oppong ducks down to avoid it.

Cruz lands a left and a right that send Oppong crashing to the mat, dazed. Cruz thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

enabling Oppong to counter with a crisp jab.
Oppong is still on wobbly legs! Can Cruz finish him?

Oppong loses concentration momentarily and Cruz pounces with a three punch combo! Right, left, right! Oppong crashes face first to the mat, out cold! Cruz finishes this one with a fantastically precise combo! Great stuff.

During a confident post fight interview, Kale Cruz thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
