Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jordan Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Techno Viking! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith with a poor takedown and Viking counters with a lovely straight right hand! Viking looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Viking keeps the fight on the outside. Smith showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Viking.
Smith shoots for a double leg takedown but Viking sprawls well. He's pushed Smith's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Viking throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Viking shoots in for a takedown but Smith shows good takedown defense. Smith wants to clinch. Viking avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Smith is looking to clinch but Viking is avoiding it.
Smith throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Viking misses with a body shot.
Viking shoots in but no luck this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Smith closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Smith decides to stand back up. Smith wants to clinch up but Viking keeps it at a distance. Smith wants to clinch. Smith throws a head kick but Viking moves out of range.
Smith fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jordan Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him. Viking is looking to chop away at Smith's legs. Smith misses with a takedown attempt - Viking sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Viking keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Viking keeps the fight on the outside. Smith tries to clinch up but Viking circles away and keeps his distance. Smith lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Viking backs up against the cage.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Viking sprawls well. Viking wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Smith gets slowly back to his feet. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Smith shoots in for a takedown but Viking shows good takedown defense. Some wild striking there from Smith.
Smith tries for a takedown but Viking circles away easily and Viking counters with a nice double leg into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Viking throwing shots but Smith is blocking nicely. Smith works his way to full guard. Good work. Viking with a flurry of punches that miss. Viking wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving. Smith is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Smith wants to sweep here but Viking controlling him for the moment. Smith avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Viking throwing strikes from guard but Smith blocks nicely. Smith has his feet on Viking's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. The fight moves into the clinch position. Viking is defending well against a takedown attempt. Viking keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Smith's efforts to push away. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Viking drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Smith gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Viking closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Smith controlling the position for now. Smith gets back to full guard.
Smith wriggles free and stands up. Smith misses with a takedown attempt - Viking sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Smith shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Viking but Viking pushes him off and we're back to square one. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Smith is defended easily by Viking. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jordan Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Viking defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Smith. Viking shoots in and bounces Smith off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Viking wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving. Smith is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Smith is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Viking trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Viking accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Smith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Viking doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Viking manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Smith has control of Viking's left arm, preventing Viking from doing any damage. Viking looking to pass the guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Viking throws a strike but Smith rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Smith trying to control but Viking is working from the bottom. Viking wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Smith manages to pass to side control. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Smith works his foot free and advances to mount. Jordan Smith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Smith wants to finish this one by submission but Viking is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Smith. Smith is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Viking is surviving well by controlling Smith's body position as best he can. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Viking is trying to stand but he's just given Smith his back. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's going to take a lot out of him. Viking misses with a hook. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Viking. Smith has a takedown stuffed. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Smith tries a low kick but Viking avoids it. Smith closes this distance looking for a takedown but Viking circles away. Viking rushes Smith and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Both guys are working to get underhooks.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Viking just stands there and leans against the cage. Viking's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Viking pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Viking closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Viking lands in his opponent's guard. Smith keeping moving, preventing Viking from controlling successfully. Smith throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Viking working some strikes from top position. Smith manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Viking manages to get himself to full guard.
Smith slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Viking is not content to let Smith control the position. Viking is trying to get back to his feet. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Viking shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Smith sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Smith wants to control but Viking is keeping busy and won't allow it. Viking lands strikes from half guard. Viking wants to control but Smith is keeping him busy. Viking working over Smith with some ground and pound. Smith looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Viking seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
