Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Whistler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DJ Peen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Peen closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Whistler to the mat! Whistler manages to get full guard. Whistler looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Peen passes into half guard.
Peen prevents Whistler from improving his position. Whistler is trying to stand back up but Peen is controlling him
Peen content to control rather than advance. Whistler is looking to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Whistler is trying to stand back up but Peen is controlling him
Whistler wants to control but Peen is keeping busy.
Whistler is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Peen shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Whistler's guard. Whistler working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Peen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Peen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Whistler had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Peen is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Whistler Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Peen's back instead. Whistler is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Whistler looking for the choke but no joy. Peen is in a bad position with Whistler working for a choke. Peen manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment. Whistler wants to sweep here but Peen controlling him for the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Peen postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Peen shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Peen was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Whistler tries to improve his position but instead Peen has taken his back! Whistler tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Whistler keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Whistler is working hard here to advance position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Peen manages to capitalize on a mistake by Whistler to take his back! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
DJ Peen dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Peen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Whistler tries to land a sweep but no joy. Whistler escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Peen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Whistler looking to control.
Whistler is trying to hold Peen in close to prevent damage but Peen has managed to pass into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Whistler manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Peen stopping the sweep attempt from Whistler.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peen wants to control from the top but Whistler keeps moving. Whistler looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Peen passes into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Whistler wants to control but Peen is keeping busy and won't allow it. Whistler wants to improve his position but Peen is controlling well.
Whistler makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Whistler. Whistler keeping moving, preventing Peen from controlling successfully. Whistler looking for a triangle here. Peen is fighting it but it looks tight! Whistler pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Peen is tapping out - this one is all over!
