Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sir Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paddy Tyson! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Donatello Bradman and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Tyson. Johnson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Johnson with the ground and pound but Tyson uses the opportunity to regain guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tyson can do anything to dispel that myth. Johnson throwing strikes but missing. Tyson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Johnson! Johnson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Tyson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Tyson throws some wild stikes that Johnson manages to avoid easily.
Johnson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tyson on the ground. Tyson with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Johnson is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Johnson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tyson landing strikes from the mount and Johnson is in trouble! Johnson is trying to stand up. Tyson fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Tyson throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Johnson is in a horrible position here. Tyson smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Tyson lands a nice shot to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee warns Johnson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Johnson is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Tyson has isolated one of Johnson's arms. Johnson looking to fight him off but Tyson twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
