0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Krovitzky! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, John Mangel and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Krovitzky tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Van Maul paws at him with a jab and circles away. No luck with that takedown attempt from Van Maul. Decent striking displayed by Krovitzky there. Van Maul scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Krovitzky bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Van Maul takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Van Maul circles away from the clinch attempt.
Krovitzky fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Van Maul drives through with a takedown into Krovitzky's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Van Maul is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Krovitzky wants to get back to his feet but Van Maul is in a dominant position and won't allow it. He catches Krovitzky napping and manages to drive through into side control! Krovitzky is letting Van Maul control him for a moment. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Krovitzky is trying to buck Van Maul off. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Krovitzky wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Van Maul takes a little break here. Krovitzky wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Krovitzky tries to escape but Van Maul is in control.

Van Maul manages to hold on to the position though. Krovitzky seems a little lost for a moment, as Van Maul dominates the positioning. Krovitzky tries to escape but Van Maul is in control.

Van Maul swats away the attempt to clinch by Krovitzky. Van Maul keeps the fight on the outside. Krovitzky wants to clinch up but Van Maul keeps it at a distance. Van Maul shoots in for a double leg but Krovitzky sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Krovitzky fails to land the takedown. Luuk Van Maul is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Krovitzky tries to land a body kick and Van Maul decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Krovitzky's guard. Krovitzky keeping full guard, as Van Maul tries to pass. Van Maul slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Krovitzky is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Van Maul dives into side control.

Van Maul is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Krovitzky's shoulder. That is not cool. Krovitzky is trying to escape and get back to his feet. The referee asks Van Maul politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Van Maul prefers to stall for the moment though. Van Maul has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Van Maul has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Krovitzky's body.
