Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jerry Flannery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Flannery's entrance music is Elk Hunt - Trevor Jones and Randy Edelman. A fine choice. Jones has chosen The Kangaroo Song as his entrance music. Jerry Flannery could well score a knockout today. 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jerry Flannery! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robert Jones! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Flannery misses with a few strikes there.
Flannery could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Jones is looking to clinch but Flannery is avoiding it.
Jones takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Flannery misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Jerry Flannery seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jones has taken the fight to the clinch.
Flannery tries to land knees in the clinch but Jones avoids the damage to the body. Flannery is looking to break free of the clinch but Jones has double underhooks. Jones misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Flannery.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Flannery lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Jones shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Flannery's guard.

Flannery keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully. Flannery wriggles free and stands up. Flannery connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Flannery throws a nice looking combination but Jones bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Flannery paws at him with a jab and circles away. Jones has a takedown stuffed. Jones looks gassed! Flannery scores with a nice right hand.

Jones closes the distance and clinches up with Flannery, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes Flannery against the cage but Flannery circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Flannery throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Flannery lands with a nice combination. Jones backs away looking to recover. Jones gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Flannery. Jones lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Jones takes the fight into the clinch. Jones gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Flannery pushes Jones off and gets back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Flannery looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Flannery looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jerry Flannery dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Flannery stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Flannery preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Flannery is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Flannery is looking to stand up but Jones isn't so interested in that idea. Jones throwing strikes but missing. Jones trying to control but Flannery is working from the bottom. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Jones gets to his feet. Flannery looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
That's one minute gone in the round. Flannery rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jones moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Jones showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Flannery.
Flannery tries to bum rush Jones with a series of wild strikes but Jones uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Jones tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Jones dodges the punch combination from Flannery.
Donk. Flannery catches Jones right on the button with a cross. Flannery will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Jones is looking to clinch. Jones throws a head kick but Flannery moves out of range.
A combination from Flannery does no damage. Jerry Flannery is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Jones just misses with a punch to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Flannery has had enough of the clinch but Jones keeps him there for the moment. Flannery is trying to break free. Flannery is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Jones tries to work over Flannery's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. A quick uppercut on the inside from Flannery. Jones stalling.

Jones lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Jones holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Jones drops down looking for an ankle pick but Flannery pulls his leg out and moves away.
Jones tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. A low kick from Flannery misses and Jones moves into the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Flannery is looking to break free of the clinch but Jones has double underhooks. Flannery is trying to break free. Flannery wants to break the clinch but can't.
Jones drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jerry Flannery has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robert Jones. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Jones just misses with a elbow thrown towards Flannery's brow. Jones pulls Flannery into guard.
Flannery wants to get up but he can't break Jones's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Jones bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Flannery's guard. Jones throwing strikes from guard but Flannery blocks nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Jones drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jones jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Flannery wants to stand up but Jones is controlling him. Flannery keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully. Flannery is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Robert Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Jones looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Jones takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Flannery lands a two punch combo.
Jones is rocked! Flannery scores with a nice strike. Jones is still on wobbly legs! Can Flannery finish him? Jones misses with a head kick.
Jones seems to have recovered his senses. Flannery scores with a shot to the body.
A combination from Jones does no damage. Flannery lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Flannery moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Jones goes down! Can Flannery finish him!? Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Jones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Flannery would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Jones looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
That's one minute gone in the round. Flannery preventing the sweep. Jones striking off his back, scoring a few points. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Flannery is posturing up here but Jones has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Flannery tries to roll out but it's too tight and Flannery has to tap! Slick submission there by Jones!
