PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tony Jax (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mr Bronze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jax comes into the arena with Immortal Technique - The Rebel blaring out of the sound system. Mr Bronze will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tony Jax! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Mr Bronze! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Igor Prikhodko and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jax moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Bronze uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Jax. Jax throws a half hearted mid kick. A looping hook to the body misses from Jax. Bronze does a little dance to reset his feet. Bronze moves out of range as Jax strikes. Jax checks a leg kick. Jax misses with a looping right. Bronze misses with a straight left. A jab from Bronze misses. Bronze jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Bronze is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. A nice leg kick lands there from Jax. Jax drops his hands momentarily and Bronze takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Jax digs a good body shot into Bronze's ribs. Jax on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Jax jabbing away but nothing is landing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jax throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Jax throws a sloppy head kick and Bronze moves out of range easily. Tony Jax seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jax looks to score with a jab to the body but Bronze is just out of range. A decent looking cross lands there for Bronze. Jax throws a shot from downtown. Bronze moves away and avoids it. Jax gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Bronze doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Bronze is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Jax to keep the fight standing. Bronze's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Jax is looking to control Bronze's arms but Bronze gets an underhook and turns him. Now Jax has his back to the cage. Jax blocks an uppercut.
Jax is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Bronze's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems. Bronze blocking some punches.
Jax lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Bronze backwards. Bronze scores with a shot to the side of Jax's head. Jax blocks an uppercut.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Jax stalling in the clinch.
Jax taking a breather. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bronze tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Bronze jumps guard but Jax turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Jax. Bronze makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Jax is rocked! Bronze lands a shoulder strike. Oh Jax is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Jax is trying to maintain a safe position but Bronze gets an underhook and turns Jax into the cage. Bronze fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Bronze manages to break the clinch.

A head punch on the inside from Bronze fails to land. Jax is struggling to control the position. Jax is trying to stall.
Bronze pulls guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Bronze is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Jax in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Jax won't allow Bronze to sweep him here. Jax seems to have got his legs back now. Bronze looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Bronze working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jax doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Bronze is tightening it up a little... Jax has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Jax reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Jax taps out! Nice BJJ there by Bronze!
