The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Contreras throws a lazy right hand but Belich sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Belich tries to bum rush Contreras with a series of wild strikes but Contreras uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Belich throws a nice looking combination but Contreras bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Belich scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Contreras keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Belich.
Contreras lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Belich circles away quickly and effectively.
Contreras walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Belich fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Contreras looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Contreras has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Contreras there as he acknowledges the shot.

Belich takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Contreras looks to score with a jab to the body but Belich is just out of range.

and Contreras takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Nice combo by Contreras! Oh, that's hurt him - Belich falls to the canvas and Contreras follows him into side control.
Belich is rocked!
It looks like Niko Belich has been cut.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Belich is working to avoid the ground and pound but Contreras connects with a decent elbow.

Belich on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Belich tries to get out of the position.
Contreras is trying to get an arm triangle but Belich is defending well.

That was a close round but I would say that Niko Belich will probably get the nod.

That's time! Belich's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Belich misses the jab.
Belich seems to have got his legs back now.
Belich looks to land a left hand but Contreras moved out of range nicely.
Contreras uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Belich.
A looping hook to the body misses from Contreras. Belich does a little dance to reset his feet.
Belich connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Contreras's hands.

Niko Belich is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Contreras counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Belich tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Contreras manages to move to mount!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Belich is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Contreras has taken his back.
