Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between James Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Gemelli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Anthony Gemelli! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Lou da Vinci and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gemelli.
Anthony Gemelli seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gemelli loads up on a big right hand but Johnson slips the punch. Gemelli looks to score with a jab to the body but Johnson is just out of range. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Johnson. Johnson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gemelli pinned against the cage. Gemelli gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Johnson looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Gemelli tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gemelli isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Johnson stacks Gemelli on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Johnson! Gemelli is looking to reverse the position. Johnson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Gemelli is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Johnson's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Gemelli is looking to improve his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson stopping the sweep attempt from Gemelli. Gemelli has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Johnson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Johnson passes easily into side control. Nice work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gemelli looks gassed! Johnson blocks the strikes from Gemelli.
Gemelli manages to work his way to half guard, despite Johnson's best efforts. Johnson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Gemelli tries to roll over but Johnson keeps him under control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gemelli looking for submissions off his back. Gemelli throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Johnson drops an elbow to the side of Gemelli's head. Gemelli tries to get to full guard but Johnson has control of the leg. Gemelli tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Johnson trying to control the action but Gemelli is working from the bottom.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Gemelli misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Johnson.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Johnson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gemelli swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Johnson slips a jab from Gemelli. Johnson fails with the takedown. Gemelli shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Johnson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Gemelli! Gemelli slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Johnson trying to control from half guard but Gemelli is working away. Johnson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Gemelli actively working from the bottom here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Johnson dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Johnson shoots and misses and Gemelli counters with a shoot takedown. Johnson fights it but they end up in guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gemelli accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Johnson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Gemelli has gone for a leg lock! Johnson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gemelli's guard. Gemelli is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Johnson trying to control the position from guard on top but Gemelli is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Gemelli wants to sweep but no luck. Johnson lands a couple of elbows. Johnson slips nicely into half guard. Gemelli regains full guard. Nicely done.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gemelli bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Johnson's guard. Gemelli is breathing heavily. Johnson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Gemelli is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Johnson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Gemelli's back instead. James Johnson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Gemelli tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Gemelli can't escape the position.

Johnson looking to secure an arm triangle but Gemelli defends it well. Johnson jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Gemelli manages to avoid the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Gemelli wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land. Johnson works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Johnson controls the position from side control. Gemelli is trying to work for a sweep but Johnson has mounted him! Johnson looking to secure an arm triangle but Gemelli defends it well. Johnson has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Gemelli is forced to tap!
