PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alvid Monoshiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Kimble (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kimble is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Ecstasy Of Gold. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, John Kimble!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Richard Clark and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kimble scores with a jab to the head.
Monoshiro takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Kimble throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Monoshiro tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Monoshiro closes the distance looking to clinch
and Kimble counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Monoshiro slips a jab and a cross from Kimble.

Kimble gets the takedown into side control.
Monoshiro is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Monoshiro is looking to reverse the position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kimble working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Monoshiro can't do much from the bottom here.

OK we're going to have a standup here. John Kimble hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Monoshiro closes the distance looking to clinch
and Kimble counters with a nice uppercut.
Monoshiro dodges the punch combination from Kimble.
Monoshiro keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kimble.

Monoshiro has picked Kimble up - he's going for a ride! Monoshiro dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Monoshiro wants to pass the guard but Kimble is defending well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kimble is pressing down on Monoshiro's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Kimble shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Monoshiro is trying to defend but Kimble finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kimble is looking for a kimura but Monoshiro is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kimble to get the leverage.

Monoshiro is trying to control Kimble's posture but Kimble avoids it.
Kimble has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Monoshiro!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kimble looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Kimble working for a guillotine from mount but Monoshiro is in no mood to give up.
Kimble trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Kimble looking to finish Monoshiro with some ground and pound. This is bad for Monoshiro!

Kimble wants to finish this one by submission but Monoshiro is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Kimble.
Monoshiro is wriggling around trying to escape.
Kimble takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
John Kimble has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kimble is riding his opponent, not letting Monoshiro buck him off.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Kimble's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Kimble has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Monoshiro is in real trouble here. Kimble gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Monoshiro is tapping out! Kimble wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). John Kimble!
After the fight, John Kimble was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
