Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dan McGrew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gaspar Saroa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dan McGrew!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gaspar Saroa!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Paulsen Ambrosius and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGrew tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Saroa paws at him with a jab and circles away.
McGrew connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Saroa thows a left - swing and a miss!
McGrew swinging wildly here.
McGrew moves into range and connects with a jab.
Saroa tries to score a power double leg takedown but McGrew sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Saroa somewhat.
McGrew connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
McGrew's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and McGrew duly obliges.
McGrew jabs at Saroa's body.
Saroa keeps the fight on the outside.

McGrew has closed the distance and engaged Saroa in a clinch.
Saroa misses with a hook to the ribs.
McGrew pushes Saroa back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Saroa jumps guard and drags McGrew to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
McGrew passes Saroa's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Saroa is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute McGrew jumps into side control!

McGrew is trying to get an arm triangle but Saroa is defending well.
Saroa sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

McGrew is trying to work for a kimura but Saroa is defending well.

McGrew is trying to control. Saroa wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Saroa moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McGrew not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

McGrew drops back looking for a leg! Saroa is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Saroa manages to kick McGrew off! McGrew jumps back into Saroa's guard.

Saroa is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Saroa tries to hold on but McGrew pushes him away.
Saroa can't escape the position.

McGrew wants to finish this one by submission but Saroa is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from McGrew.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Saroa bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
McGrew is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! McGrew's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


McGrew connects with a good right hand that stumbles Saroa. Saroa circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
McGrew tries to clinch up but Saroa circles away and keeps his distance.

Saroa drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
McGrew avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

McGrew escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Saroa gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
McGrew is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Saroa postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Saroa wants to control from the top but McGrew keeps moving.
Saroa postures up in McGrew's guard and throws a big left but McGrew blocks it.

Saroa in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
McGrew wants to sweep but no luck.

Saroa got a little sloppy there for a moment and McGrew has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Saroa has managed to get both his arms back between McGrew's legs - danger averted.
McGrew has momentary wrist control but Saroa slips an elbow through the middle.

Saroa postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
McGrew manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
McGrew takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

McGrew prevents Saroa from getting the reversal.
Saroa is trying to reverse the position but instead McGrew has taken his back - oops!

McGrew is persistently looking for the submission but Saroa is defending it well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Saroa manages to reverse the position and now he's in McGrew's guard. Nice work there by Saroa.

McGrew had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Saroa defends it easily.

McGrew is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Saroa has managed to free his arm - good work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dan McGrew will probably get the nod.

Saroa gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

and McGrew cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Dan McGrew seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McGrew scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
McGrew jabs Saroa right on the nose. Saroa blinks but takes it well.
McGrew connects with a body shot.
McGrew keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
McGrew works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
McGrew connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Saroa's hands.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McGrew working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Saroa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Saroa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

McGrew escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Saroa gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

McGrew has his foot on Saroa's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Saroa works his way back into a safe position though.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dan McGrew.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for McGrew, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
