Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jason Steele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dalton McKay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dalton McKay is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Steele!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dalton McKay!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Bruno Lombardi and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Steele.

Steele looking to score a takedown here. McKay is defending well but Steele drives through and ends up in McKay's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Steele is working McKay over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

McKay is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Steele defends well.

McKay has his foot on Steele's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Steele works his way back into a safe position though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Steele is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Steele got a little sloppy there for a moment and McKay has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Steele has managed to get both his arms back between McKay's legs - danger averted.

Steele seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Steele might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

McKay working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Steele doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Steele manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

McKay is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Steele is aware though and is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Steele postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Steele content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Steele gets to his feet. McKay looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Steele misses with a takedown attempt

and McKay counters with a single leg into guard. Steele didn't expect that.
McKay advances to half guard.

McKay is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

McKay is trying to work for a kimura but Steele is defending well.
McKay looks gassed!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McKay works his foot free and advances to mount.

McKay with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Steele can't escape the position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
A nice elbow there by McKay.
Steele reaches up and holds on to McKay to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McKay doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Steele counters with a nice double leg into side control. McKay won't be happy with that.
McKay is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Check out the look on Steele's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
McKay is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
McKay wants to get back to full guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Steele looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks McKay with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Steele is figuring out what he wants to do next.

McKay looking for submissions off his back.
McKay is breathing heavily.

Steele is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Steele knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McKay on the ground.
Steele working over McKay with some ground and pound. McKay looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Steele slows the pace down in half guard.
Steele seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down McKay for as long as he can get away with.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Steele is taking a breather. McKay says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Steele slips a nice elbow through McKay's hands, connecting with McKay's forehead.

McKay is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Steele pulls his head out easily.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
McKay regains full guard. Nicely done.

McKay escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Steele gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

McKay is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Steele is aware though and is defending well.

Steele slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Steele lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Steele wants to control from the top but McKay keeps moving.

McKay has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Steele can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

McKay is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Steele defends well.
Steele is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Steele gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Steele gets a double leg takedown into McKay's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Steele wants to control from the top but McKay keeps moving.
Steele is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Steele drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Steele is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but McKay has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Steele is looking to defend but McKay has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Steele! McKay pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Steele taps out and this one is all over!
