Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Peeta Mellark!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Cena!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Saam Ante and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mellark tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Cena manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Cena keeps the fight on the outside.
Mellark tries to clinch up but Cena circles away and keeps his distance.

Cena throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mellark was covering up waiting for the punch and Cena finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Cena is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Cena looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Cena slips nicely into half guard.
Cena controlling the action here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
It looks like Cena might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Cena's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Mellark wants to get back to his feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. John Cena was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Mellark tries to close the distance and clinch but Cena swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Mellark wants to clinch but Cena slips to the side

and Cena counters with a shoot takedown. Mellark fights it but they end up in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cena in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Cena controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Mellark wants to get back to his feet but Cena is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Cena stands and throws Mellark's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cena in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Mellark is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). John Cena!
