Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
12 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Thomas Flight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Cristian Romero!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romero tries for a takedown but Flight circles away easily
and Flight counters with a slapping leg kick.
Romero with a lazy takedown attempt
and Romero takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Romero takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Romero shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Flight but Flight pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Thomas Flight has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cristian Romero.
Romero misses with a takedown attempt
and Flight counters with a head kick. That will keep Romero thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Romero shoots for a double leg takedown but Flight sprawls well. He's pushed Romero's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Romero takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Flight lands a jab to Romero's midsection.
Flight scores with a nice body kick.
Romero looks gassed!
Romero with a poor takedown
and Flight counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Flight scores with the left hand. Romero knows he should have avoided that one.
Romero gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Romero is rocked!
Romero is trying desperately to land a takedown but Flight is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Romero.
Flight thumps Romero with a low kick.
Flight lands with a shot to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Flight lands a front kick.
Cristian Romero seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Romero chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Flight can pounce on him.
Flight scores with a head kick.
Romero is still on wobbly legs! Can Flight finish him?
Flight is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Flight lands a monster head kick that reverborates around the arena! The crowd goes wild as Romero crumples to the floor! Flight milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Thomas Flight!
Thomas Flight tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
