PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Boris Yeltsin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladimir Khrysthenkyo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Boris Yeltsin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladimir Khrysthenkyo!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Igor Prikhodko and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khrysthenkyo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Yeltsin moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Khrysthenkyo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Yeltsin as he jumps to the side.

Yeltsin scores with a takedown into Khrysthenkyo's guard.
Yeltsin trying to control the position from guard on top but Khrysthenkyo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Yeltsin throwing strikes but missing.
Khrysthenkyo controls Yeltsin momentarily but Yeltsin frees himself.
Yeltsin tries to free his leg and advance position but Khrysthenkyo is retaining full guard.
Khrysthenkyo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Yeltsin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Khrysthenkyo looking to control.
Khrysthenkyo is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Yeltsin trying to control but Khrysthenkyo is working from the bottom.

Yeltsin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Yeltsin tries to clinch up but Khrysthenkyo circles away and keeps his distance.
Yeltsin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Khrysthenkyo's waist but Khrysthenkyo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Yeltsin off to one side.
Khrysthenkyo scores with a shot to the body.
Khrysthenkyo misses with a jab, cross combination.
Khrysthenkyo gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Yeltsin counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Khrysthenkyo wants to stand up but Yeltsin is controlling him.
Khrysthenkyo is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Khrysthenkyo pushes Yeltsin off and scrambles back to his feet.
Khrysthenkyo lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Yeltsin avoids a punch combination nicely.
Khrysthenkyo looks gassed!
Khrysthenkyo looks for the body kick but Yeltsin saw that one coming.

Khrysthenkyo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Yeltsin sneaks back into half guard.
Yeltsin wants to improve his position but Khrysthenkyo is controlling well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Khrysthenkyo blocks the strikes from Yeltsin.
Khrysthenkyo perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Yeltsin looking for submissions off his back.
Khrysthenkyo seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Yeltsin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Khrysthenkyo wants to get back to his feet.
Yeltsin is refusing to be controlled, as Khrysthenkyo sits in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Yeltsin is trying to maintain the position but Khrysthenkyo is very close to passing his half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Yeltsin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Yeltsin defending well as Khrysthenkyo loads up on a big left hand.
Yeltsin tries to clinch but Khrysthenkyo moves out of range.
Khrysthenkyo avoids a punch combination nicely.
Yeltsin misses with a shot to the body
and Khrysthenkyo counters with a one-two to the body.
Khrysthenkyo keeps the fight on the outside.

Yeltsin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Khrysthenkyo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Boris Yeltsin will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Khrysthenkyo misses with a takedown

and Yeltsin counters with a shoot takedown. Khrysthenkyo fights it but they end up in guard.
Yeltsin works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Yeltsin wants to free his trapped foot but Khrysthenkyo is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Yeltsin wants to take a breather but Khrysthenkyo is having none of it.
Yeltsin throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Yeltsin is tying to control. Khrysthenkyo wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Yeltsin controlling the action here.
Khrysthenkyo keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Khrysthenkyo can do anything to dispel that myth.
Khrysthenkyo is breathing heavily.

Yeltsin missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Yeltsin rushes Khrysthenkyo and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Khrysthenkyo fails to pull guard.
Yeltsin tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Khrysthenkyo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Khrysthenkyo showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Yeltsin.
Vladimir Khrysthenkyo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Khrysthenkyo doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Yeltsin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Khrysthenkyo won't be happy with that.
Boris Yeltsin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vladimir Khrysthenkyo.
Khrysthenkyo wants to control but Yeltsin postures up.
Boris Yeltsin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Yeltsin tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Khrysthenkyo prevents Yeltsin from improving position.

Yeltsin has hold of Khrysthenkyo's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Khrysthenkyo tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Yeltsin cranks the arm and Khrysthenkyo screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Khrysthenkyo, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
